Nell was quickly taken to the deck. William reached out to grab her and pointed the barrel of the gun at her head.
On the small boat, Gideon silently witnessed the scene.
He could hear Matthew’s elaborate report from his earpiece, “Mr. President, team one, team two, and team three have completed preparations. Ready to engage.”
There was no warmth in Gideon’s piercing gaze, he spoke softly, “Make sure to not harm her.”
“Yes!”
On the fishing boat, Nell was not aware of any of this. With a gun suddenly pointed to her head, coupled with William’s current volatile state, she cried out in fear, “William! Are you crazy?”
“I am crazy! Ha! Damn you! You dare to deceive me! So you’ve got an ambush ready? Let’s see today which one of us is better!”
Nell turned pale. She had a hard time catching her breath due to him choking her neck from behind, “Let’s calm down, what ambush? No such thing! It’s just the three of us here, nobody else…”
“Shut up!” William suddenly bellowed at her in agitation. His eyes were bloodshot, and he began to push the gun tighter to her head.
“Don’t say anything from now on! Otherwise I’ll shoot you down, you hear me?”
Nell grinded her teeth in silence in fear of further provoking him.
“Gideon! Send your men back! Or else I’ll kill her!”
William shouted at Gideon’s direction.
At the moment, there was a less than thirty meters distance between the two boats. The surrounding was wide and empty, their voices could be transmitted clearly.
Gideon’s voice came from afar, surprisingly, he did not try to refute or deny it.
“How do I know that you will let her go after receiving the money?”
“By knowing that I can kill her right here and now!”
William scowled in a sharp tone.
Gideon fell silent for a brief moment.
After that, he seemed to whisper something. Shortly after that lot of movements came from the fishing boat nearby, there were similar movements underwater as well. From a distance, they could see many people evacuating.
Their movements were practiced and disciplined.
William did a double take.
His eyes surveyed the area, after making sure there was nothing abnormal in the area, he growled sharply, “Come here!”
Only then did Gideon continue rowing the boat towards his side. In just a moment, he had boarded the fishing boat they were on.
He had a black trench coat on, under the trench coat he wore a shirt and trousers of the same color, which added to his intimidating aura. The corners of his eyes shot gleams of cold light, like that of a sword being unsheathed.
His face, however, was unbelievably pale.
It was like a sheet of paper, there was hardly a trace of blood underneath.
Nell felt a clutch in her heart when she saw him.
On the opposite side, Gideon looked at them without any expression.
“William! Let her go, I’ll give you the money you want, not a single penny less.”
He spoke with a deep voice. He did not give off the impression that he was here for a ransom, but for a negotiation instead. Or better yet, a twisted act of charity.
At the end of the day, William was just a third rate hoodlum. Apart from marrying Scarlet and taking a leap in his social status, the most significant thing he had done was probably losing that one billion.
He had always been deeply terrified of Gideon, at this moment, his heart was a tangled mass.
“Hold steady, get him to take off his coat!” orders came in from the earpiece.
William gulped, his breathing was getting erratic. In contrast to the calm and composed Gideon, he was clearly out of his depth.
“Take off your coat!”
Gideon remained expressionless. He followed orders and took off his coat before simply tossing it on the deck without paying any mind to it.
“Make him turn around,” further orders from the earpiece.
William commanded again, “Turn around!”
