What reason did Vickie have to not treasure her life and take revenge?
Her eyes became colder as she thought about it.
As if Gregory could sense the gloomy atmosphere around her, his eyes narrowed, and he spoke in a low voice, “Don't worry, I will assist you with your revenge and kill those people.”
This time, Vickie did not reject it.
“Thank you.”
She knew his influence was very powerful.
She also knew that while she also could have done things herself, the risk was much higher, and the chances of succeeding much lower.
With Gregory, her odds were different.
He had influence, smarts, connections. As long as you stood with him, you were part of his network, and you would be much, much more powerful.
The two went straight to Vickie’s room in the secondary building.
Gregory then loosened his hold on the wheelchair and turned to Andrea. “You can take a break, we’ll be talking here for a while.”
Andrea was naturally happy to see this, so she smiled as she acknowledged the order and turned to leave.
Vickie knew that Andrea was misunderstanding the situation between her and Gregory — they were talking serious business, yet she thought they were getting on well romantically.
Still, she did not have the heart to explain to her right now.
After Andrea left, Gregory shut the door and Vickie spoke in a low voice, “The poison was targeted towards me but they failed. There’s no doubt that they’ll try again.
Gregory nodded, agreeing with her.
“Which party do you think it is?”
Vickie said seriously, “The first one.”
Her gaze turned cold at this point, carrying a hint of murderous intent.
“They want my life, it makes sense that they would use something as potent as arsenic. To be frank, if it wasn’t for the fact that Yuliana is in great health and that the chateau has doctors present, she might have died.
“I’m different. As far as everyone knows, I’m still injured and I’m crippled from the waist down. If I ingested the poison it would just be adding fuel to the flames and I’d be dead before long.”
Gregory agreed with her.
He said, “So what do you have in mind now?”
Vickie’s delicate eyebrows furrowed.
She responded solemnly, “It’s certainly easier to be a thief than prevent one… after causing such a huge commotion and using so many tactics, we still have no clues. So how can we even figure out who was behind this? I don’t think it’s a good idea to keep waiting. This time was Yuliana, but what about the next? I don't want to become a ticking time bomb to everyone here where they could get hurt because of me.”
Gregory started to smile as he listened to her.
Those deep eyes stared at her with an expression that looked like a sly half-smile.
He chuckled lightly. “Oh? Didn’t you hate her? To think you’d feel guilty for causing her harm.”
Vickie froze but immediately snapped back to her senses and fell silent.
