“I'm way better now. The doctor said that I’ll be fully recovered after a month.”
After hearing that Vickie would need one more month to fully recover, instead of being relieved, Jackson’s eyebrows began to wrinkle.
“It must be a serious injury, right?”
Vickie nodded her head.
She did not explain the reason behind her injury. As both of them had just met, Jackson did not want to pry deeper.
He did not want to overstep his boundaries.
Thus, he said, “Please be more careful in the future, Miss Thomas. I wish you a speedy recovery.”
Vickie grinned and said, “Thanks.”
After that, the two of them did not say another word until they reached the restroom. Jackson pointed forward and said, “It’s right over there. You can go there by yourself, Miss Thomas.”
Vickie nodded her head and thanked Jackson before entering the restroom.
After she was done using the toilet, she fixed her makeup in front of the mirror. Then, she turned around and got ready to leave the restroom.
At that moment, just as her hand grabbed the doorknob, her body suddenly froze.
Vickie had been wandering around the boundary of life and death for many years. As such, her instincts were telling her that there was someone else in the restroom.
The restroom was an isolated place in the VIP zone. There was only one toilet and sink in that area.
When she entered the restroom, there was no one inside. That was why…
She gripped the doorknob and took a deep breath before opening the door.
Jackson was still waiting outside, somewhere not too far from the restroom.
Vickie was a little surprised. She had thought that he would leave her after bringing her to the restroom.
She walked toward him and smiled. “Sorry for making you wait for me.”
Jackson put out the cigarette in his hand and said, “It’s no bother. I didn’t have anything to do as well.”
He stopped for a while. Then, he continued, “Are you done? If you’re done, then let’s go.”
Vickie nodded her head.
Thus, the two of them walked back to the lounge.
However, Vickie suddenly stopped when they had just walked two steps forward. She quickly turned around. “Oh no, my bracelet is missing. I think I left it in the restroom. Let me go back to look for it.”
Jackson was shocked and turned around. He then asked, “What bracelet? Do you need my help?”
Vickie shook her head.
She raised her head and saw a woman who just exited the restroom. As the woman was wearing a janitor’s uniform, she was probably on cleaning duty.
Vickie wrinkled her eyebrows.
Jackson walked to Vickie’s side at that moment. He saw her standing there without making another step. Her eyes held a glint of anger. It was as if those eyes were swearing. He could not help but feel confused.
“What happened?”
Vickie raised her head and took out a refined leaf bracelet from her sleeves.
“It’s alright, you don’t have to look for it anymore. Apparently, it hung onto the lace on my dress’ sleeves.”
Jackson sighed in relief and smiled. “That’s good to hear. Let’s get going then.”
Vickie nodded her head.
Both of them walked outside.
On the way, Vickie paid close attention to her back to check for any suspicious activities. After she was certain that no one was following them, her eyebrows wrinkled.
Was she overthinking just now?
Was that janitor really cleaning the restroom?
She did not know why, but she had a strange feeling in her heart.
After reconsidering for a while, she thought that maybe it was because she was too sensitive.
