Chapter 712 Questionable Phone Call
Sophie was clear that Paula would not easily admit that she missed her brother and thus skipped the topic and asked
about what had happened.
Paula stammered, "I didn't contact my brother. I..."
Pain appeared in her eyes. She subconsciously put her hands on her head as if she was fighting against recalling it.
"Don't try to think about your experience. Just tell me a story." Sophie massaged Paula to relax her nerves and soothed
her in a gentle voice.
Reassured, Paula slowly leaned on Sophie's shoulder and whispered, "I called my brother, but it was the maid who
answered the phone. Daryl..."
Something happened to Daryl? Lucia's temples throbbed. All sorts of things piled up, giving her a headache. She
wondered how August had coped with so many complicated things at the same time.
"My brother seems to have locked Daryl up. I heard her cries for her freedom and heard Dianna contacting the family
doctor. I was really scared." The thin woman trembled.
After exchanging looks with Sophie, Lucia quickly got up and grabbed her bag regardless of her injured hand. "Dr. Capet,
please help take care of Paula. I'm going to the Thomas' house."
Daryl fell into Paul's hands because of Paula and her. She couldn't sit back and watch.
"I will take care of everything at home. I'll call you if anything happens." Sophie nodded firmly.
With Sophie taking control, Lucia was much relieved. She called on the driver assigned by Flynt and went straight to the
Thomas' house.
On the road, she hesitantly asked the driver, "You're in touch with Flynt, right? How is August doing?"
She hadn't contacted August for days. On the one hand, she had to close the deal for the company. On the other hand,
she didn't want to distract him at such a point. The driver was silent for a moment. His tone was respectful and a bit
torn.
"Sorry, Ms. Mitchell, it's confidential. You can't access anyone's situation and plan."
Lucia couldn't help but frown. "Do you think Flynt will tell me if I ask him?"
"No!" the driver asserted without hesitation.
Lucia was a little disappointed but had no media to vent her frustration. It was still gnawing at her when the car stopped
in front of the mansion of the Thomas family.
As soon as she showed up at the door, Dianna changed color and said in a solemn tone, "Mr. Thomas has gone to work.
You can come again later."
"I'm here to see Daryl rather than Paul," she said indifferently.
Dianna still showed no intention of opening the door. Instead, she signaled to the security guards to stay alert and
snorted, "Don't you think it's ridiculous to find Ms. Davenport at the Thomas' house?"
Lucia's eyes glinted with coldness. She went over, looked Dianna in the eye, and questioned her, "Who let you talk to me
like that, Paul?"
"Not really." Dianna lost her nerve and looked away.
Lucia continued, "Daryl is the hostess of this house. Is it wrong that I came to find her here?"
Just as Dianna was about to retort, another voice suddenly came from behind them. "Lucia, what brings you here?" Dianna changed color and immediately stood between them. Daryl's smile was elegant, but her eyes were reproachful.
She slowly shook her head and said to Dianna, "Lead Ms. Mitchell to the courtyard."
"Madam, Mr. Thomas has instructed..." Dianna looked torn and anxiously said, "You should go back to your room and
rest. Mr. Thomas will receive her when he comes back in the evening."
Daryl glanced at the pavilion in the garden and pointed to the security guards. "You guys come with us to protect Ms.
Mitchell and me. Dianna, you can also come along. There is no need to prepare coffee and pastries."

Dianna was afraid that they would play the same trick again and thus guarded against Lucia. She knew it well. So, she
chose to meet Lucia in the courtyard where no blind spots existed. She told everyone to go with her to reassure the
housekeeper. Dianna hesitated for a moment and then respectfully gestured invitation.
They strolled to the pavilion and took their seats. Lucia sized Daryl up before heaving a sigh of relief. Although Daryl
looked thinner, she was in good spirits and had a fine color in her cheeks. It didn't look like she was suffering. "How are you doing here? Did Paul give you a hard time?" she asked worriedly.
Daryl quickly shook her head. "Don't worry, Paul and the others have treated me well. They won't act rashly. I just don't
know what his aim is."
