Artemis arched his brows and smirked.
“Of course, I will love him! I have to thank the baby in your belly as it makes me realize a lot of things.”
Rhonda was startled, and she had a bad feeling.
Just when she was about to ask further, Artemis spoke again, “I've been in touch with the person in charge at the City Hall, and he'll bring the staff over to our residence tomorrow. Don't you want to register our marriage? I get them to do it here.”
“Huh?” Rhonda looked at him in a daze.
Did I hear it right? Did he say that he's arranged for the people from City Hall to come here for our marriage registration?
The unexpected happy event caught her off guard.
“A-Artemis, do you really want to register our marriage?”
Artemis put on a devilish smile again. “Do I look like I am kidding? Or do you not want to get registered?”
“No.” Rhonda became anxious all of a sudden and wanted to get out of her bed.
A trace of sarcasm flashed through Artemis' eyes, and he said lightly, “You should just stay in bed. The baby in your belly is so precious now, and I take it very seriously. You have to take good care of it.”
Rhonda dared not move anymore. She hurriedly laid back and said anxiously, “Tomorrow. We'll register our marriage tomorrow, right?”
Artemis turned around and started walking toward the door. “Yes, that's right. It's tomorrow. You don't have to doubt what I said as I always keep my word. Get some rest now, and we'll talk about it tomorrow.”
Rhonda narrowed her eyes to look at his departing figure and fell into deep thought.
The surprise that came all of a sudden made her feel a little unreal. She was so flustered to the extent that she felt something was not right.
Did he really just say that he wants to marry me? Am I dreaming now?
She leaned on the bedside and thought for a long while, but she was still clueless.
She reached for her phone on the bedside table and gave Beatrice a call.
She then told Beatrice about Artemis' decision.
“Mom, why do you think he suddenly changed his mind? Do you have any idea what he wants to do actually?”
Beatrice smiled and comforted her, “Don't worry too much, Ronni. I guess it's Felicity who pressured him to do so. Perhaps Artemis has no choice but to compromise because of his mother's pressure.”
“Huh? What did Mrs. Luther do to pressure Artemis?” Rhonda frowned and asked.
Beatrice said sarcastically, “Do you know who Gerald's ideal eldest daughter-in-law is?”
“Who?”
“The eldest daughter of the Shurmer family, Zoey.”
Rhonda was stunned for a moment. When she came back to her senses, she asked as she in a confused tone, “Zoey is one of the Ten Acclaimed Socialites. I am not surprised that she's the ideal daughter-in-law in Gerald's eye. But what does this have to do with that old woman?”
