Narrowing his eyes, Lionel gave Vincent the side-eye.
“You're willing to turn yourself in? Judging by your sickly appearance, I highly suspect you'll die inside the prison. You've lived a glorious life thus far, so are you really willing to accept this miserable end?”
Vincent wore a bitter smile. “What can I do even if I'm unwilling to accept this outcome? I suppose you won't let me go even if Vicky is imprisoned in my stead, right? Therefore, why should I drag my daughter into this mess and ruin her life?”
Lionel laughed sinisterly and raised his brows. “Victoria may come and beg me to show you mercy before she goes into jail. Perhaps I will really let you off the hook for the sake of our past relationship. She's still young, so she can turn over a new leaf after spending a few years in prison. However, the same cannot be said for you. You're old and frail. Once you enter the prison, there is no chance for you to come out alive.”
Vincent coughed violently before he placed his hands on the table and pushed himself up. Then, he bowed deeply at Lionel while panting heavily. “I don't mind where I die at this advanced age. Please, have mercy and let my daughter go. I promise you that I will turn myself in.”
After saying that, he turned around, grabbed his briefcase, and took out a stack of documents with his trembling hands. “This is Saunders Group's share transfer agreement. I'm willingly offering you the fifty percent company share in my possession. From today onward, you will be Saunders Group's major shareholder, as well as the decision-maker of the company. I hope you'll take into consideration your past relationship with Vicky and stop her crazy actions.”
With that, Vincent walked unsteadily toward the door with the help of his walking stick, stumbling a few times and nearly faceplanting on the floor.
At that sight, the old butler hastily rushed forward to support Vincent. The two of them slowly left the room afterward.
Lionel gazed at the traffic jam outside the window with an unfathomable look gleaming in his eyes.
He stood rooted to his spot for a long while before ambling to the table and picking up the share transfer agreement.
The content of the agreement was genuine. Vincent had also affixed his signature at the bottom of the page and even attached his fingerprint. That share transfer agreement was already legally effective.
Lionel understood Vincent's intention. Only by transferring Saunders Group's decision-making power to him could Vincent render Lionel capable of stopping Victoria from continuing her crime.
Hah! It seems like this old man is quite caring and protective toward his daughter. In that case, I shall do as he wishes by rescuing Victoria. Then...
The fall of the Gezmond family and the death of his family members was a grudge Lionel did not dare to forget, nor could he ever forget.
Meanwhile, at the lead designer's office in Luther Group, Artemis pushed the door open and entered the room.
He could not help but feel curious when he saw Bailey browsing through piles of references with her brows knitted as if she had encountered a complex problem.
Is there any issue in this world that she can't resolve?
“What's the matter? Did you hit a bottleneck in your programming?”
While biting the end of her pen, Bailey flatly replied, “No. I'm figuring out a way to acquire Saunders Group.”
Acquire Saunders Group?
Artemis was stunned. He sauntered over to her desk and leaned forward to take a look.
Scattered on the table were documents related to the acquisition process of a company.
“Why are you thinking of purchasing Saunders Group? I remember you were too lazy to even manage Emmy Boutique and handed all the responsibilities of running the business to the operations team.”
She placed down the pen in her hand and leaned back in the chair. “My discussion with Lionel fell through. That guy is determined to bring about the downfall of Saunders Group and send Mr. Saunders to prison. If I wish to protect Victoria, I must first safeguard Mr. Saunders, which means I'll have to save Saunders Group.”
Artemis sighed and reached out to grab all the documents.
Bailey thought he wanted to read the papers, so she did not stop him. Unexpectedly, he turned around and tossed them into the shredder.
