In a gazebo in Tarragon's headquarters, a slender figure stood by the railing as she fed the fish.
“Well? Has there been any strange activity on Micah's end?”
“The president has been in Hallsbay for over a month, during which he has also gone to Springwyn once. He seemed to have met someone there and returned to Hallsbay after a few days.”
Yvette paused in her movement. She slowly turned her head to look at the bodyguard dressed in black standing behind her. “Did you find out who he met and why he's been staying in Hallsbay?” she asked with knitted brows.
The bodyguard was a little troubled. He hesitated, unsure whether to tell her the truth.
Yvette's gaze went cold, and she scoffed. “Are you going to keep it from me even though you serve me? Do all of you think that you can disobey my orders now that my father is dead?”
“No, I wouldn't dare.” The bodyguard quickly got on his knees and inclined his head. “I owe a great deal to Mr. Sullivan. I had sworn to protect you with my life should Mr. Sullivan no longer be with us.”
“So, what are you waiting for? Answer my question.”
“S-Shannon Lewitt is in Hallsbay.”
When Yvette heard that name, her hands slowly tightened into fists, crushing the fish food into dust.
Shannon... It's Shannon... Why isn't she dead? Why is she still alive?
“Ms. Sullivan, there is one more thing I need to report.”
“What is it?”
“The vice president has also gone to Hallsbay.”
The hostility in Yvette's eyes instantly grew stronger.
That b*tch Shannon is so lucky. The two most powerful leaders in Tarragon are always thinking about her. How can I not be jealous? Or envious? How can I not hate her? What has she done to deserve such a wonderful man as Micah or a doting brother like Holden? But I guess the pain of having lost an arm and her child should be enough to torture her for the rest of her life. Death will just provide her an escape from her misery. The more agony she lives in, the more pleased I will be. So, she better not die. She should remain alive and carry that heartwrenching pain with her.
“Prepare the private jet. I'm going to Hallsbay.”
The bodyguard was taken aback. “Ms. Sullivan, now that the president and vice president are both in Hallsbay, Shannon will be well-protected. Even if you were to go there now, you wouldn't be able to do anything.”
Yvette scoffed coldly as a dark and vicious look flitted across her eyes.
“If I guessed right, that b*tch Shannon already knows that I was the one who set her up regarding the theft of Tarragon's classified information and sent someone to run that little b*stard of hers over. However, she doesn't have any evidence to prove that I was behind it. Micah and Holden were both personally trained by my father. They will never believe her baseless claims and go against me. Hence, I think she will try to finish me off herself. The moment she tries something, I will gladly destroy her.”
“But...”
“That's enough. You need not say anymore as I've made up my mind. Go and prepare the private jet.”
The bodyguard fell silent.
Meanwhile, the doorbell in one of the apartments in Hallsbay's Shelbert Condominium was ringing.
Three little kids were sprawled on the floor, each playing their own game and ignoring the knocks on the door.
