That was why Larissa was very worried about Lana, fearing that she would face the same predicament. She knew better than to venture into such places alone, as not only would she be unable to protect Lana effectively, but she might also become entangled in trouble herself. However, she couldn’t tell Lucas, so she had no choice but to ask for Dylan’s help. 

Dylan stopped his car outside the building and rolled down the window. “Sit in the back” he instructed. Larissa, puzzled by the request. nodded and opened the rear door nonetheless. To her surprise, someone was already inside. The dim lighting cast a soft glow, lending a warm aura to Kevan’s face. The collar of his brown jacket was pulled up to his chin, obscuring a quarter of his face, and his eyes looked. brighter than usual in the dark. 

Larissa paused, and her heart inexplicably skipped a beat. However, the moment she remembered that Lana was still in danger, she cast all her other thoughts aside and quickly climbed into the car. “Sorry for disturbing your sleep and dragging you out in the middle of the night guys,” she said. 

“It’s okay. We weren’t in bed yet anyway,” Dylan responded, stifling a yawn. He offered an awkward smile before changing the subject.” But, since when did you have a little sister?” 

Larissa found it challenging to explain her complex family background within the limited time available. Thus, she opted for a simplified clarification. “She lives in Bartham and is here to visit her boyfriend. She arrived two days ago.” 

“Why would your sister ask you to rescue her when she has a boyfriend? There was a note of disapproval towards Lana in Dylan’s tone.” Isn’t she worried that you’ll get in danger too? Larissa sighed and said, “Her boyfriend doesn’t allow her to go to bars 

Dylan snorted and said, “So she’s taking advantage of you?” Larissa spread her hands helplessly and said, “I’m her sister, after all‘ Dylan drove at top speed and arrived at Lido Street in less than thirty minutes. The whole time, Larissa texted Lana to make sure that she was safe. They could only stop the car at the mouth of the alley and walk inside. 

They saw quite a number of drunkards on the way. Groups of men and women were loudly congregating, their revelry filling the air. Unfortunate scenes of people vomiting against the walls, with their disgusting vomit splattering onto the ground, became an all–too- common sight. Larissa glanced at Kevan, fully expecting to see a grimace of disgust on his face. “Sorry,” she said softly. A look of confusion appeared in Kevan’s eyes as he responded. “Hmm?” 

“You wouldn’t be in a place like this if it weren’t for me,” Larissa’s voice got softer as she hung her head low. 

“That’s why you should think about how you’ll make it up to me once this is over,” Kevan said arrogantly, walking past her, his shoulder 

brushing against hers.
