Chapter 708
Kevan asked in his usual calm and composed tone.
Larissa’s heart sank when he asked her that question.
Although they were separated by the vast ocean, her gaze wavered.
“My father’s getting old. He needs someone to take over the company,” Larissa lied.
“Lewis would be a better candidate than you. If you consider the future of Blue Star Shipping and for Gary’s sake, it would be a wiser choice to pass the company’s management to Lewis.”
Larissa must have known about this. This was why Kevan wasn’t convinced when she decided to resign from the Winston Hotel and take over the family business.
He tried asking Lewis about Larissa’s reason, but Lewis had no idea.
“I can’t put this burden solely on Lewis.”
Larissa’s grip lightened on the phone.
Que to her nervousness, a thin layer of sweat appeared on the palm of her hand.
Kevan fell silent for a long time before replying, “Alright.”
Since Larissa did not want to tell him the truth, it was meaningless to probe lurther.
After that they were silent once again.
Suddenly, Larissa heard a notification sound coming on her phone.
She brought the screen before her and saw that there was another incoming call. It was Alen.
Larissa’s first reaction was to reject his call
However. Allen called in once again. He seemed as if he wasn’t going to stop until she picked up the call
Larissa closed her eyes in frustration. Since Kevan was still silent, she asked before hanging up, “Do you have anything else to talk about?”
Kevan replied in his deep voice. “Yes. I’m tired out. I was at the police station the whole night and didn’t sleep a wink.”
Larissa chided him. “Then you should go to sleep now!”
“I can’t sleep. Lari I miss you,” Kevan sighed.
As it struck by lightning, Larissa’s heart tightened.
Al Kevan’s direct confession of love, her defenses crumbled, and there was an inexplicable sense of sweetness in spite of her shock.
Larissa’s face went as red as a tomato as her heart thumped in her chest.
“Even though you miss me, you should still have a good rest,” Larissa said in a cajoling tone that she used with Aster when trying to persuade him.
“I can’t sleep well without you by my side.”
Kevan seemed bent on making her feel shy. Every sentence he spoke was more embarrassing than the last.
