Talented Heiress A Rose with Thorns (Yvette and Wilson) novel Chapter 840

Jacob returned Wilson the same look of disdain he received from him. Never mind that Wilson was constantly taking up all of Yvette's time. Now, he even wanted to compete with them in preparing a surprise for her birthday!

For a moment, the atmosphere in the office became tense as Wilson and Jacob eyed each other, both finding the other unpleasant company.

"Yvie is our precious younger sister, so we'll be the ones to take care of planning her birthday surprise. You can just go about your own business," said Jacob after a while.

Wilson's eyes darkened, and the temperature in the room seemed to drop enough to make one shiver. He had already made the biggest compromise possible by allowing them to work on Yvette's birthday surprise alongside him!

He replied, "I'm Yvie's fiancé, so this is within my duties."

Jacob frowned in dissatisfaction, asking, "Do you absolutely have to fight us on this?"

"That should be my line, Jacob."

The atmosphere in the office once again grew tense.

Just then, Yvette pushed open the door to the office and strode in. "What are you two talking about, Jacob?"

The instant they saw her, the hostility between Wilson and Jacob vanished, and they suddenly acted like two best buddies.

Wilson answered warmly, "Nothing much. We're just chatting over casual things."

Since they were planning a surprise, they naturally couldn't let her find out about it now.

Jacob nodded along quickly, saying, "That's right! We were just chatting!"

Yvette didn't question them further upon seeing their odd behavior. Instead, she got down to business.

"I've successfully developed an antidote for the hypnotizing fragrance," she announced.

Because the hypnotizing fragrance could control people's consciousness, others had used it for evil many years ago, which led to it being banned from appearing in the market and being used.

Yvette had spent longer than usual to develop an antidote precisely because it was far too rare an item.

Joy flashed in Wilson's eyes at her words, but then he took in her appearance, which seemed thinner than before.

Distressed, he reached out to touch her face. "It's been hard on you, my dear fiancée."

Yvette shook her head, smiling faintly at him as she replied, "I'm fine. Grandma's health is more important here!"

How could she be so kind…

Wilson gazed gently at her, slender fingers rubbing lightly at her face in a wordless expression of his deep love and also distress.

Jacob looked on at the scene unhappily. Although he had accepted Wilson as his brother-in-law, he still felt the urge to cut off Wilson's grabby paws when he saw the other man laying his hands on Yvette.
