Thea had just reached a shiny pavilion found at the Wyrmscale Sourceʼs entrance when she ran into someone.
It was Taichu, one of the five Xyloria gods. Thea could guess why Taichu was here. However, she did not mention anything about it since Taichu had not brought up the matter herself.
After savoring the Sremdoa Tea prepared by Taichu, Thea calmly stood up. “Ms. Taichu, why donʼt we enjoy your tea inside the Wyrmscale Source instead?”
“I donʼt think thatʼs a good idea.” Taichu sighed and got up as well. “The Divine Marius and I are not on good terms.”
Thea smiled softly. “As a Xyloria god, youʼre afraid of him?”
“Itʼs not that Iʼm afraid of him.” Taichu shook her head. “The Divine Marius prefers quiet and solitude. He also needs to maintain impartiality during critical times like now.”
Upon hearing her response, Thea shrugged and gave a slight nod. “Alright. Iʼll take my leave first, then. I have a few errands to take care of.”
As Thea walked away, Taichu said, “You choosing to work with Xanthakos is suicidal. In addition, youʼll bring your husband down along with you.”
Those words halted Thea in her tracks. She turned around. “What do you mean by that, Ms. Taichu?”
“Xanthakos is a liar and a hypocrite.” Taichu continued expressionlessly, “You wonʼt gain any benefit from working with him. I hope you two will reconsider it.”
Thea beamed. “You finally said what you came here to tell me, Ms. Taichu.”
Taichu let out another sigh. “I witnessed the fierce battle that broke out in the Fortieth Heaven back then. I also recall the horrible things Yehria has put you through time and time again.
“What has Xanthakos offered to make you give up on taking vengeance and decide to help him instead?”
Thea pressed her lips together and treaded slowly toward Taichu. “I see! Ms. Taichu is here today to persuade me to change my mind.”
“Frankly, I shouldnʼt be doing this.” Taichu gazed at Thea. “Youʼre an Alcide being, which makes you inherently different from the living beings…”
Theaʼs expression hardened. “Ms. Taichu, my husband is the lord of all living beings. If youʼre going to compare the Alcide beings and living beings this way, itʼs better for us to be enemies instead.”
Taichu heaved a deep breath. She knew how much the Yin governor and James cared about each other. They were practically inseparable after everything they had been through.
Taichu regretted a little for making those earlier remarks hastily.
She sat in her seat. “Almost everyone knows how I feel about the living beings. However, this isnʼt about the conflict between the Alcide beings and living beings. Whatʼs happening now is a war between factions.”
Taichuʼs gaze fell on Thea. “Xanthakos claims to be fighting for the right to reign over the Haleth Realm for the sake of all living beings. However, he actually has a personal agenda.
“Once he seizes the Wuia Palace and the Path Designation Bead, heʼll show his true colors and most likely has the living beings grovel at his feet.
“You knew very well that Lord Goyo had nothing to do with the many unfair treatment and biased laws the living beings were subjected to.
