"Why not? Red hair, if you tell me, I will give Lil Thing to you!" Lou raised his brows, his eyes gleamed with excitement when he gave that generous offer, even though the generous offer benefited him more than Iris, since it cost a fortune to feed it. As a merchant, of course, this was a bad investment.
However, before their conversation could progress, in the distance someone screamed in fear. "MONSTERS!"
At the same time, the carriage stopped and this alerted Iris. "Are we there yet?" She looked out the window, but the nearest building was still a little bit far away.
Meanwhile, Lou creased his brows deeply. They were inside the protection of the palace walls, how could a monster break through the defense and enter the palace territory?
"Miss! Don’t come out!" Hanna opened the carriage door hastily, as she talked to Iris in a hurry, her expression looked panicked. "Don’t come out!"
"What is happening?" Iris poked her head out to look outside and gasped in fear upon seeing two trolls and a dozen Brinetallons fighting the royal guards in their beast form.
Her last encounter with Brinetallon was when she stayed with Cane in his lycan form and the monster broke through the defense of the Blue Moon pack. After that, she learned a little bit about that monster and knew how deadly their venom was, especially when she had experienced taking care of a victim of their venom.
One Brinetallon was enough to overwhelm four beasts, let alone a dozen of them.
"Stay inside the carriage, Miss! We don’t know how many of them are here! More royal warriors will be here!"
For now, they were protected by the royal guards, but it didn’t take so long to see how those guards couldn’t hold them back any longer. The number of victims on the beast side started to rise one by one rapidly.
Meanwhile, Lou jumped out of the carriage and watched the fighting scene before his eyes. His eyes turned cold to see this, but he was exceptionally calm, there was no fear at all.
"This is not good," he stated the obvious and then approached the front seat to talk with the coachman. "Can’t you take us somewhere else?"
The coachman was dumbstruck, he was petrified, until he couldn’t think straight. And after hearing Lou’s question, he nodded his head profusely.
From the looks of it, the guards wouldn’t be able to hold back the Brinetallons for a long time and they didn’t know when the royal warriors would arrive, thus it was not wise to stay here and wait for those monsters to kill all of the guards and attack them next.
"Get back to your seat, little maid," Lou said to Hanna, as he climbed into the carriage again and it took off in a different direction. "Don’t worry, I will not let you die, at least until I get the answer from you. So, can you tell me now?" The merchant looked relaxed despite the situation outside and this left Iris bewildered.
"Hanna!" Iris called her name desperately. "Let me go!" She tried to push Lou away from her, but he didn’t budge. freewebnσvel.cøm
