The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 256

Chapter 256: DAMN YOU, CANE! (2)

"Damn you, Cane!" Lou bristled when he heard that. He got off the bed immediately, his expression unusually dark, as he stormed toward the garden, where Cane had been waiting for him.

However, his expression changed in a split second before he met with the Alpha as he greeted him politely and remorsefully for making him wait. The hypocrisy was so thick coming from him.

"I am sorry for making you wait this long," Lou said cheerfully, in his usual self. "You seem to be in a hurry, though you just arrived five minutes ago."

He spoke about it so lightly, as if he didn’t have the intention to make him wait for hours if he could.

However, Cane could see through his façade and replied to him simply. "The situation inside the palace is still not stable and the people in the capital are still panicking, grieving and afraid. There are a lot of things to take care of."

Annoyance flitted past Lou’s eyes, but it vanished before Cane noticed it. What the Alpha said painted the merchant as someone that was too idle and willing to be ignorant in this chaotic situation, since he had a lot of free time.

Damn! Lou was also there, in the morning court, with the King, alright! It was not only Cane who was busy!

"Yes, it is a difficult situation," Lou said lightly, still sounding cheerful, as if he didn’t get bothered with Cane’s jab. "Serve tea!" He said to the servant.

However, Cane raised his hand to reject that. "Let’s skip tea and get down to business, what do you want?" He didn’t have all day to accompany Lou. He barely wanted to spend another second here.

If it was not for the fact that this merchant had indeed saved his mate’s life, he wouldn’t be here at all, dealing with his antics. It was such a waste of his time.

"Oh, come on, you won’t turn my offer down, right?" Lou furrowed his brows, he looked disappointed. "I invited you for an evening tea."

"I still have something to discuss with the King. I only have five more minutes. If you had come earlier, it would have been possible, but since you are late, I don’t have much time for such leisure."

Sabian, who was standing a few steps away from Lou, felt his heart lurch to his stomach when he heard the Alpha’s sarcastic words. Not only did he insult his master in such a delicate way, but he also blurted out the King’s name in the same breath, which effectively left Lou tongue- tied. He couldn’t retort.

The Alpha even gave a time limit for the merchant to speak.

There was no way he would be able to hold Cane back if he brought up the King’s matter here, because if he did that, it would imply his matter was way more important than the King’s.

Lou felt like he was about to flip the table or pour the hot water on his face.
