Cane knew what he was doing and saying, especially things like how to play with people like Haco. The sorcerer had nothing. No money, no place to stay, no magic stones to boost his power, nothing.
"It can be your word against the special emissary of the King." Cane showed him the golden stamp he received from the King.
Seeing that, Haco cursed under his breath. "Shit! Damn you, Cane! You trapped me! How can you scheme against me?!"
Haco knew the meaning of the golden stamp and the privileges that its holder would get. Its holder’s authority would be almost absolute, only the King himself who could deny it. He could use the royal warriors and all the resources as he deemed fit.
"How can you get that damn thing?!" Haco was dumbfounded. Now, he was conflicted, though it was very clear for him that he couldn’t go against Cane now, still to support him, it could only mean digging his own grave deeper.
Because once Cane went down, he would be buried along with him, but this Alpha was very cunning, thus the end result was still unclear.
"Your choice, Haco." Cane put away the golden stamp. His black eyes were fixed on the sorcerer, as he watched how conflicted he was right now.
On the other hand, Haco kept cursing at Cane, but the Alpha let him say whatever he wanted. He was long used to hearing such words, more so, he had every right to be upset with him, because this wouldn’t be the last time he would use him and his power.
"Tonight is the new moon. I want you to greet her again." Cane tossed a magic stone to Haco.
Will flinched when he heard the task that Cane gave to the sorcerer. He knew, who Cane meant by ’her’. It was Princess Osana, the Alpha wanted Haco to torture her again tonight during the new moon, surely Cane had something in his mind to do it at the same time of his transformation into his lycan form.
One magic stone wouldn’t be enough to kill the Princess and Cane didn’t intend to kill her right away. Death was so easy for people like her, but of course, Princess Osana’s curse acting up along with the appearance of the lycan in the city would make the already tense atmosphere become even more chaotic.
"It’s too dangerous, Alpha." Will finally opened his mouth.
"I know." Cane had thought about that, that was why he brought Iris with him. He believed this cursed soul of lycan would be docile enough to be with the woman that it wanted.
"You know what," Haco sneered, he played with the magic stone in his hand. He was irked because he didn’t have any other choice but to follow this deranged alpha’s plan. This alpha was a threat to his life, but also his only protection. How upsetting that fact was. "If you fight a monster, you will become a monster too."
Cane turned his head away and looked at the bleak sky through the window, as he replied. "It’s hard to make a good choice when you don’t have good options."
His choices were limited and just like a wise man said; the best defense was a good offense.

Fortunately, or rather unfortunately, he was a shifter, he could heal from these wounds in a matter of seconds, the only reason why no one discovered this new habit of his yet. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
