There were around eighty children in this orphanage now, the number significantly increased recently because of the last attack of the monsters during the new year party. While some of them were being taken care of by their extended families, some of them didn’t have any relatives around the capital city, as they came from different continents, following their parents to trade here.
Because of their large number while the rooms in the orphanage were not really enough to accommodate them all, Prince Kellan started building another building right next to the first one, construction of which would be finished around four to six months from now.
The citizens cheered at the Prince’s generosity and the act of kindness he showed to people, capturing their hearts and somehow easing the tension in the capital a little. And with the impact of it, they saw Cane in a good light too, since he had always been seen with the Prince lately, especially when he visited the orphanage and donated for building construction and new blankets for them.
Those children were very happy to receive new blankets for them to sleep in, especially when these blankets were very soft and of good quality.
Among those children, who ranged between one year old to fourteen years old, there were two babies that were still being breastfed.
"This building is the first project that I took upon after being crowned as the Crown Prince," Kellan said, reminiscing the past, as he stared at the building. "Father didn’t agree with my decision, as they didn’t see the need in caring for those children, deeming them a burden for the kingdom, but I have a different opinion. Probably, since that time, father no longer likes me." Kellan grinned at Cane.
On the other hand, Cane dismissed the warrior, who always pushed Kellan’s wheelchair, because this time, the Alpha did it himself, as they strolled around this area, watching a few children approach them with big smiles on their faces.
Most of them were already familiar with the Prince, as they greeted him with their beautiful smiles and some of them looked at Cane with curiosity, while the others looked a little bit scared because Cane was not full of smiles, nor did he make small talk with them, unlike the Prince. More so, Cane’s scar was a little bit scary to look at for them.
They walked for a little while, but then two children around the age of eight and ten came to Prince Kellan, asking him to show them how to play some instruments and the other children nearby chimed in.
"Do you want to come?" Prince Kellan asked, as he carried a little girl around the age of seven, who was climbing onto him innocently before settling on his lap. He kissed her cheek and she giggled.
"You can go ahead, I will walk around." Cane declined the offer and then watched how those children followed Kellan back into the building, while the warrior from earlier pushed the wheelchair. Those children looked so happy, as they rambled about a few things and Kellan would engage with them all, paying close attention to them, while the previous little girl nestled against his chest. The little girl must think the Prince was the most trusted person after she lost her parents and became so attached to him.
Once all of them disappeared into the building, Cane walked in the small garden. A few children ran past him and some of them greeted him fearfully. His appearance must be very intimidating for those pure souls, thus when he noticed they feared him, he walked toward a quieter place, where there were not many people.
Above his head, the sun had almost set and the braziers were lit up, while the luminous pearls were hung in the dark spots, to illuminate the place.
