Iris had been feeling very low, she was in a bad mood ever since what had happened and even though she appeared a little bit calmer recently, it didn’t vanquish the turmoil inside of her, there was still this raging storm within her.
Therefore, when something ticked her off, she tended to be more contentious than usual.
"Why are you always looking for my mate?"
On the other hand, Hanna was stunned to hear the way Iris spoke, because usually she would be so timid, yet the way she saw it, her sweet missy somehow sounded more aggressive.
Not only Hanna, Nala was also taken aback to hear the way Iris voiced her question. This luna did not even bother to hide her dislike toward her.
"This is the King’s order, Luna Iris," Nala said, trying to explain herself. "I didn’t come looking for the Alpha on my own violation."
Iris narrowed her eyes, she took a step forward, which made Nala feel flustered and out of instinct, she backed away. She became defensive, as if she was about to be attacked. Probably, Iris was venting out her frustration on her, or maybe she simply wanted to show Nala what actually she felt about her, but nonetheless, this side of the Luna was a little bit disarming.
"Why did the King send an irrelevant person to relay his message? There are countless royal warriors and proper messengers to do the same."
Nala couldn’t refute that, since she got this news from her father and just like before, she volunteered to deliver it to the Alpha herself.
Because she failed to execute her plan with the witch in the orphanage, since the Alpha spent all his time taking care of his mate and not allowed anyone to bother him, she didn’t have a chance to even come closer to him.
And the repercussions of that was; the King kept her for days in his bed. He vented out his anger because the plan failed and his frustration only increased because of what happened in his court while Nala couldn’t complain, since she had to make the old king happy, or else, it would be her family that took the brunt of his wrath.
She still felt so sore and her heart was a wreck.
Nala couldn’t understand how there could be a man like King Aeon, who didn’t have any scrupulousness to take pleasure from women and saw them as an object to please himself, while there was a man like Alpha Cane, who would stay behind nights after nights just to make sure his mate was fine.
If it was King Aeon, the man wouldn’t even care whether you were sick or not, what he cared about the most was how to get pleasure from you in the way he liked.
Nala felt bitter. What was so good about the runt before her eyes?
"Get someone proper to deliver the message to the Alpha," Iris said sharply, she was annoyed beyond words. Everything annoyed and frustrated her, even when she made a simple mistake like spilling her drink nowadays, she would get all worked up.
However, for her stubbornness, Nala should get a credit, as she couldn’t tell when to stop. "I am already here, Luna, it will be better for me to deliver the message for the Alpha right away, rather than waiting for someone else to come. The King will appreciate it if the Alpha goes to him immediately."
Nala still assumed Cane was inside the chamber and Iris was only giving her a hard time.
However, before Iris could retort, she saw the person that she would never be sick of looking at, but right now, he was the last person she wanted to meet with Nala around.
Behind Nala, Cane could be seen coming from the opposite direction with Ethan and Trion. The Alpha frowned as he marveled at the look Iris gave him. Why did she look so hostile toward him? Cane didn’t remember if he did something wrong. They were still fine this morning.
