King Aeon said nothing, he let his dense son speak on his behalf, as he fell deep in thought. It was not that he was not aware of the gravity of this situation, nor that he didn’t know the dead witch. After all, this was part of his plan.
However, he couldn’t wrap his head around the appearance of the dark wisp. What was that? Was all black magic like that? He had seen Cyan use black magic a few times, but he had never encountered the appearance of such a horrifying dark wisp. Did something go wrong when the dark witch tried to curse Cane to break the mate bond?
Cyan was not here, thus it was hard for Aeon to confirm this. The only important thing to him right now was; did she succeed in breaking the mate bond? Damn that witch if she died without providing any contribution and instead creating more complications for him! What a useless piece of shit.
"There is no need to check whether the black magic came from him or not! All of us are the witnesses! We saw how the black smoke came out of his body!" Alan was infuriated because none of them backed him up and his father didn’t help him immediately. What was he thinking? Would he forsake him again?
"That’s ridiculous!" Ethan was enraged, he was on the verge of charging forward and ripping that useless mouth of Alan! He really wanted to kill this moron! "That’s because he was cursed!"
"Or maybe because he was the one who used black magic!"
"Shifters can’t use black magic, you idiot! Did you skip all of your classes?! That’s common knowledge!"
All the royal warriors and guards, along with the people around the King, gasped, hearing what Ethan had said. They knew what Ethan said was true and how idiotic Alan could be not even knowing such common knowledge, but it was not wise to cuss out the Crown Prince out loud, especially in front of the King.
"Impudence!" King Aeon roared. His face turned so red. He felt so humiliated, he knew how stupid Alan’s argumentation was, but it was not something you could say out loud recklessly without any consequences. "Guards! Arrest him!"
This time, all the guards rushed forward to catch Ethan and the Gamma was ready to shift into his beast. He had endured humiliation from Alan and he couldn’t care less about death anymore. After all, he didn’t come to the capital with the thought he would make it out alive.
His anger radiated throughout his whole body, as he glared at the warriors that rushed toward him.
"Back off," Ethan said through his gritted teeth, as he pulled Iris behind him. He was thankful and also quite surprised when Iris stood up by his side to hold their ground and fight for the Alpha, but there was a limit to what they could do and this time they had reached a dead end.
"Ethan, don’t..." Iris clutched onto his arm, she didn’t want him to die. Cane had taken great pains to get him pardoned, but now they went back to square one. "Apologize now."
"Over my dead body," Ethan hissed icily. There was no way he would apologize for pointing out the truth.
On the other hand, Aderan stepped forward, he stood beside Ethan, he was also ready to shift into his beast, he wouldn’t let the Gamma fight their enemy alone.
And right at that time, from behind them, Redmond and Trion joined the party.
