The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 343

Chapter 343: PRECIOUS POSSESSION

The guard, who came to inform them about finding something in the underground room, actually came to give the report to Koda, because Alpha Dristan sent him over.

However, because things had escalated to this point and because this investigation fell under Cane’s responsibility, thus it was only right to notify and include him as well.

The problem with Lady Cyan could wait, after all, the Lady had confirmed it herself that the ring indeed belonged to Princess Osana while the head of royal sorcerers concluded that it was indeed suffused with black magic.

Black magic and curses were not something you would see every day, thus if you found it, you would be able to connect the dots between things and with a personality like Alan’s, he most likely tried something he shouldn’t, breaking yet another rule.

"Can I go?" Iris asked Cane, because she didn’t want to be left behind with Lady Cyan. She felt uncomfortable with her, as if she was going to do something bad. Probably it was only her feeling, but she didn’t like this lady, though she didn’t do anything to her.

Cane didn’t reply, but he took her hand and led her out of the room, as he ordered three royal warriors to thoroughly search inside the room with Redmond as the person in charge.

Redmond groaned and gave the Alpha a look, then he said nothing but started to do his task, while Lady Cyan stood in her place, staring at Cane and Iris’ retreating backs. Koda had left first with the royal guard who informed them.

"What is your name?" Lady Cyan asked Redmond.

"Redmond, My Lady," he replied politely.

"Are you from the Howling Wolf pack?"

Redmond shook his head. "I am from the Blue Moon pack, My Lady."

Lady Cyan didn’t ask another question again and walked out of the room, leaving them to do their job. She had made a mistake by not seeing it coming. Alpha Cane had been well prepared with his scheme to trick Alan to have a downfall. There was nothing she could do to prevent it. She had already lost one step to him and now what she needed to do was to prepare for the counterattack.

It didn’t go unnoticed by her the way Redmond looked dissatisfied with Cane.

Meanwhile, in the underground area, where one should use this place as a shelter in case of an attack, the Crown Prince actually turned this area into a hellish place that one could only find in their darkest nightmare.

Cane stopped walking and tapped Iris’ hand that clutched onto him. "Stay here," he said. He knew it wouldn’t be good, but he didn’t expect it to be this gruesome.

They had not yet stepped inside, but as a shifter, he could already smell the acrid scent of blood mixed with many other unpleasant things.

Cane had not yet seen it, but he was grimly familiar with this. It was no different from the dungeon he had lived in for a decade, a place which could suck out all of the hope from your mind and leave you with nothing, but affliction and agony.

"I- I can handle it..."

"Stay here."

Cane’s voice was so firm, it was not so often for him to talk so sternly like this with her, leaving no space whatsoever for negotiation. Cane then pried her hand away from his and walked inside.

It was only a short corridor, where Iris could see flickers of light that reflected on the walls from inside. She would be able to see what was happening there, if she took a few steps closer and poked her head.

And there were so many more... ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
