Still blushing and with Hanna constantly teasing her, Iris reached her bedroom.
Cane’s bedroom was right next to hers and both rooms were connected by a door and a bathroom, but this would be the first time for them to sleep separately and somehow, Iris was a little bit unsettled with the fact. She didn’t like sleeping alone, especially when she could sleep better with Cane close to her. She felt safe with him...
However, Kaz stopped them before Iris could open the door.
"Luna Iris, wait!" Kaz shouted, as he rushed toward them.
Iris caught sight of him from the corner of her eye and turned around, while Hanna frowned because of how loud he was shouting at them.
"What happened?" Hanna asked when Kaz was already in front of them. The old man was slightly panting.
"I forgot to tell you that this is no longer your room, Luna. Come here, I will take you to your new room." Kaz looked polite, but there was nothing polite about what he was saying.
"What do you mean this is no longer her bedroom?" Hanna became defensive on behalf of her missy, while Iris stayed quiet. She stared at the head steward, studying him. "This is the Luna’s bedroom."
Kaz shook his head, looking apologetic, but it was a façade and Iris could sense it.
"You are wrong about that, Hanna," Kaz said. "Come with me, I will show you to your new room, and don’t talk here, there is a pregnant lady inside, she needs to rest."
Iris’ heart sank to read what he said. She felt disrespected not because Sofia occupied her bedroom, since she figured that must be the reason Kaz stopped her, but because of the blatant contempt from him that she could sense.
"Do you think the Luna does not need to rest?" Hanna narrowed her eyes, she became protective of her missy. She knew something like this would happen sooner or later the moment she heard about Sofia and how the people in the Howling Wolf pack still felt uneasy with Iris. Her being away from the pack often and not having time to let them know about herself was not helping in creating a bond between them either. "We have traveled so far, from the Riverside pack to the Howling Wolf pack, in a carriage the entire morning and afternoon, do you think she is not tired?"
Kaz looked a little bit annoyed by Hanna, he huffed scornfully. "This is the Luna’s bedroom. It belongs to someone, who will carry the firstborn of the Alpha, but because it is someone else who is currently pregnant with the alpha’s firstborn, she should stay here, since the Alpha will love to be close to his firstborn. You should understand this luna." Kaz looked at Iris, as he spoke slowly, as if she couldn’t read what he was saying if he talked too fast, which was a degrading act from him. "You. Can’t. Be. Here. Because. It. Is. Not. You. Who. Is. Pregnant. With. The. Alpha’s child."
