Iris realized Hanna didn’t come with her, but when she turned around to look for her, she witnessed something that made her blood run cold. freewebnσvel.cøm
Jemma raised her hand at Hanna, she moved so fast and when Iris thought she was slapping her, she immediately realized it was not a mere slap. The woman extended her claws and injured Hanna’s face.
On the other hand, Hanna didn’t expect that either and her body fell to the ground from the impact. She was about to stand up and fight her for real when she felt blood ooze out of the wound on her cheek. It dripped to the ground and only then the pain came. Hanna was stunned.
Everyone in this hall held their breaths to see what was going on and Jemma smiled smugly to see Hanna in such a state. She let out a triumphant scoff, feeling superior.
"You should know your place!" Jemma hissed.
Meanwhile, Sofia was surprised at what her maid had done, but she didn’t say anything, nor did she reprimand her for her actions, seeing nobody said or did anything about it.
The truth was; everyone was still in shock. They needed a few more moments to process what happened in their heads. It didn’t occur to them to go forward and help Hanna up. They were stupefied, and then, their attention shifted to Iris, waiting for her reaction, since Hanna was a person who was very dearest to her.
The silence descended in this hall was so suffocating, one could cut through the air that was filled with so much tension when Iris finally moved and approached Hanna, who was whimpering in pain. Apparently, Jemma had clawed the corner of her eyes.
Iris dropped to her knees and looked at her dearest one. Blood oozed from Hanna’s face and stained her neck, while her hand covered her wound.
Iris felt her heart beat wildly, as she extended her hand and touched Hanna’s blood. It dyed her fingers in red and when she finally spoke, her voice was even. It almost scared her how she could keep her calm even when she felt a storm slowly brewing in her mind.
"Guards."
Two guards finally snapped back to reality and rushed to approach Iris.
"Bring her to see Grace."
"Miss... I..." Hanna was about to say something, but Iris’ cold eyes fell on her which efficiently silenced her.
"Leave."
Hanna immediately lowered her eyes and with the help of the two guards, she left the room. It was dead silent again.
The members of the pack, who were around, didn’t even dare to make a noise. They didn’t even dare to breathe loudly, as fear gripped their hearts and ran in their veins to see the now calm Iris.
The Luna didn’t have an imposing figure, she was pretty skinny and small for a shifter, but somehow, she held intimidating authority with the way she talked and moved, as if it radiated from her body now. They almost felt like they were witnessing the rage of the Alpha instead and felt dreadful for Jemma.
How stupid that servant was to strike Hanna? They condemned her act of violence against Hanna. Probably, that was how she usually was, intimidating the other servants in Alpha Gallot’s pack, but she should know better when she came to a different pack. Because they didn’t behave the same way here.
"What? Your servant needs to be taught a lesson!" Jemma tried to make a front before Iris, but it was clear to see that she was scared of the Luna.
"Luna Iris, you didn’t know what happened earlier, but your servant was really rude to us." Sofia tried to soften Iris’ anger, but if she knew, she wouldn’t have tried at all because right now, Iris’ attention shifted to her.
"Rude?" Iris asked.
"Yes, she blocked our way when we were going to talk to you," Sofia replied. She tried to be as calm as Iris, but her heart was beating painfully in her chest, as fear crept in.
"I told her to do so because I don’t want to talk to you, but you injured her for that?" Iris didn’t give the order, but Hanna knew how she felt and the last thing she wanted was to talk to Sofia.
Sofia was surprised to hear what Iris said, but she immediately regained her composure and found a way to explain the situation.
