The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 532

Chapter 532: SOMEONE CALLED HER

Kaz was surprised to get a visit from Iris and he immediately thought his time was near. He didn’t believe the Alpha would actually give him a final verdict and was still holding onto hope that once the Alpha’s anger had subsided, he would let him go.

However, if it was Iris who came here, it would be a different thing. The Alpha wouldn’t kill him, but then, apparently, he was very infatuated with his mate, until he abandoned his own child. Kaz was sure, the second he saw Iris, he was going to die just like Jemma.

Therefore, he was surprised when he heard what Iris said.

"Wh- what? What do you mean, Luna?" Kaz stuttered. She would be gone by the time he left the dungeon? Would she release him or did she have another thing on her mind? "You are going to release me?"

Iris stared at Kaz for a while. She didn’t feel anything about this old man. She didn’t even hate him nor did she feel bitter about him.

She simply felt aloof, as if he was someone that she didn’t know and was not related to her in any way or form, someone that she only knew by name.

Yesterday, Jace came to her to ask for help. He couldn’t handle all the affairs by himself, especially the trivial things in the pack house. It was not a really significant task and seemingly not important, but it would mess up the way the pack worked if no one handled it.

Jace couldn’t do that, because such a simple task would eat up a lot of his time and to ask someone to do it, he needed to teach them, while he didn’t have time for any of that, since he also needed to overlook the construction and the warriors.

Because Cane decided to let the Riverside pack’s warriors stay in their pack to strengthen their protection, they needed to think about how to house them in the long term, not to mention, it meant they needed to purchase more grains.

The Beta was too overwhelmed to handle everything and he would be handful if he needed to teach someone new, therefore, in the end of his long explanation, he pleaded with Iris to ask the Alpha, whether he would forgive Kaz and let him work again.

On the other hand, Iris almost forgot about that old man. The incident in the kitchen felt like it happened in another lifetime, because after that, several crucial things happened and more big things had transpired.

Of course, Cane was not really thrilled with the idea, but after some persuasion and a lot of kisses, he finally relented and let Iris decide what she was going to do with Kaz, since she was the one who had been offended by him.

It must be her who should decide what she was going to do with Kaz.

"You will leave the dungeon and continue with your job," Iris said lightly and she watched as Kaz’s expression morphed into confusion. "After the attack, there are a lot of things to be taken care of and you should help Jace as much as possible and that will be your punishment."

"Wh- what do you mean, Luna?" Doing his own usual job was not a punishment. It couldn’t be called a punishment, right? "You want to release me?"

"You are free to go, Kaz." Iris took a step close and fished out a key from her pocket, as she unlocked the cell and opened the door for him.

Kaz was in disbelief to see himself being released. "Please, thank the Alpha for releasing me. I will do my job perfectly. I will not disappoint him."

Kaz’s initial shock disappeared and now he looked so elated.

On the other hand, Iris stared at him, waiting for something, but when Kaz didn’t say anything anymore aside how grateful he was for the Alpha’s mercy, she sighed deeply and walked away. That was it.

Before she came here, she felt like she wanted to say a lot of things. She even had this imaginary conversation about what she wanted to say. She wanted Kaz to know how she felt and that what he had done to her was awful.

But right now, the urge to voice her feelings had vanished, she didn’t feel like talking about them anymore. It wasn’t worth it.

Haco was right, he said that sometimes people would choose to pretend you were a bad person so they didn’t have to feel guilty about the things they did to you and now, Iris could see how true it was.

Iris felt crazy for actually thinking she could get a proper apology. She shouldn’t have hoped for that in the first place.

If it was not for the critical situation and Kaz’s mistake was not being anything critical, in a way, since he didn’t kill anyone or harm them intentionally, his help was needed at this time. More so, holding a grudge against him didn’t help her with anything.

"Are you okay, Luna?" Eron asked when he saw Iris. She looked so quiet.

A second later, the door was opened and they saw Kaz stepping out. He looked excited, as he greeted Eron and then dashed away from this dark place, saying he wanted to see the Alpha and thank him.

"You can release the other people who have been arrested along with Kaz." Iris gave him the instruction, as she walked away.
