Her origin was a question now ever since they discovered the complicated fate between the lycan and how he recognized the first Serafim’s life essence inside of Iris, which they strongly believed that was the reason why Lu chose Cane to be his new vessel after Haco.
Her father was alpha Gerald and everyone knew about his bloodline, since he was the alpha by birth, but then there were not many people had knowledge about her mother and as long as they know alpha Gerald took fancy of her, impregnated her and then she died because of illness when Iris was one year old.
People didn’t pay enough attention to her mother or her origin because even though she was a luna, she was not alpha Gerald’s destined mate, neither her personality made her stood out among the other women alpha Gerald had at that time.
Just like Iris, her mother was so timid and didn’t speak if it was not necessary.
Therefore, there was not many people knew about where she came from and why Iris had her auburn hair and blue eyes. What Iris learned about it was because she got it from her maternal grandmother, yet, no one had ever seen any shifter with the same color of hair and eyes like her. It was very particular.
"I wonder about the same thing," Iris replied casually. "My mother died when I was so young and I don’t even remember her face. People said she was beautiful and kind."
Alpha Nolan nodded. "I have never met your mother, but seeing you, I am sure you took after your mother, because Gerald was not a kind person when he was alive." He glanced at the seven warriors behind them. "They can vouch for that."
Iris could feel it when this alpha subtly nudged the sensitive topic between her and the people in the Howling Wolf pack.
This was not the first time and obviously enough, it wouldn’t be the last.
"I am glad Cane killed him. He deserved that," Iris responded nonchalantly, which took alpha Nolan by surprised.
Even though she didn’t like her own father, but for someone so timid like her to admit that openly, it still looked out of character of her, but then upon closer look, alpha Nolan could see he had underestimated this young luna.
"You are so cold for someone, who is talking about the death of their parent." His voice was even, but there was something he tried to hinting.
Iris gave alpha Nolan her sweetest smile, knowing what game he was playing. "He has never been a parent for me. He never saw me as a daughter, so it will only fair if I have never seen him as a father either." Iris tilted her head. "After all, most of the father will cherish their son more than their daughter, right? They saw their son as someone, who will carry their bloodline, while the daughter will only be seen if they held some value."
Iris sighed dramatically.
"Some of them even sold their daughter away, as if they were only a mere commodity. Those people are truly the lowest creature, same like my father."
Iris didn’t even hold back when she badmouthed her own father and all of them knew what she was trying to say, because it was well known how alpha Nolan treated the mate bond between Leane and Cane as a bargaining chip to get as many magic stones as he could.
The seven warriors tried to hide their smile of how smooth Iris handled the situation with alpha Nolan, they worried for nothing. Their luna was still as sweet as ever, but surely, being with their alpha taught her a thing or two of how sharp your tongue could be.
On the other hand, alpha Nolan didn’t look bothered at all. He had so many experiences under his belt to react negatively to such comment, all he did was smiling at Iris, but you wouldn’t be able to read what was in his mind.
Instead of reacting to Iris’s statement, he focused on the original topic.
"You must see the Serafim and you will be able to tell how familiar the two of you are." Alpha Nolan continued the topic as if there was nothing happened. "Someone might mistake you two as siblings."
"When the time comes, I will see her sooner or later, after all, that’s what your purpose to come here, right alpha Nolan." Iris was a little bit wonder, how similar the two of them until alpha Nolan said something like that.
"That’s right." Alpha Nolan agreed. "You can go now if you like, you look healthy enough for a long journey, we don’t need to wait for Cane to give you permission to leave." The way he talked about it, as if Iris’s every movement was controlled by Cane and it painted him in a bad light.
"Oh, Cane didn’t forbid me to go, I only don’t want to go if he didn’t come."
