"Yes, the alpha is inside." Aliana nodded and watched the merchant stormed out somewhere, but then he traced back and begrudgingly spoke with Kian.
"You. Come with me, I forgot where is my room!" Lou pointed his finger at Kian.
Kian was about to retort when Aliana waved her hand, indicating for him to go with the merchant before he was throwing a tantrum here.
The warrior was a little bit conflicted when he followed the merchant. Of course, he knew where he stayed, he occupied the same room as Nala. She was his woman after all, there was no need for him to feel bitter.
Yet, when they arrived at his room and Nala opened the door, Kian watched how the merchant kissed her without any scrupulous, he didn’t even care there was someone else there and slammed the door closed.
However, Kian happened to catch Nala’s eyes and he couldn’t describe what to feel when he walked away, trying to get rid of the sight she was being kissed by someone else and their moans from inside the room.
On the other hand, Aliana shooed away the rest of the warriors.
"Yes, the alpha is inside with the luna, you better give them some space," Aliana said. She pushed Zephyr’s back and grabbed Dyne’s hand so they could move away from the door. "Go, go. Patrol around the area."
"But, how? How the alpha and the merchant were inside the room? We have never seen them came inside!" Asher couldn’t let go of the topic. He wanted to get the clarification for it.
"If you want to know, ask the alpha," Aliana replied tactfully and all of them grunted, they didn’t even need to try to know what kind of answer the alpha would give them. A complete silence. You would have a higher chance to be able to have a conversation with a sheep than got an answer from the alpha for that question.
Meanwhile, inside the room, where it was only their heavy breathing that echoed against the walls and the pitter patter of rain outside, Iris finally managed to will herself to break the kiss.
"No... No..." Iris said breathlessly, turned her face, so Cane would stop kissing her. "No, stop..." She knew where it would end up and despite her strong desire to have him after a long time to be away from each other, Iris’s annoyance for her mate seemingly won this time.
Cane’s jaw clenched when he made a great effort to stop. He pressed his forehead against Iris’s, as he hovered above her carefully not to press her body, just in case he would hurt their baby.
It took a while for Iris to calm down, for both of them to clear their mind a little bit, in order to have a decent conversation.
"You can’t come and kiss me as you like after you ignored me for weeks," Iris said bitterly, she wanted to sound angry and firm, but she felt like crying. Ugh. She hated herself whenever she was overwhelmed with her emotions like this.
Cane caressed her cheeks. "I am sorry."
Not every day, you could hear the alpha from the south apologized, some of them would never hear it in their lifetime.
His apology sounded very tender and genuine, which made Iris wanted to cry. Her emotions were all over the places. She wanted to continue being angry with him and pushed him away, so Cane would know how much he had hurt her, but at the same time, she wanted them to stay like this, she wanted him to hold her closer, coaxed and comforted her, while she kept sulking.
It was so hard when your heart was not in sync with your mind.
Iris cried because she was very upset with him and with herself for not being able to decide what she wanted to do now Cane was here.
"I am sorry, Iris." Cane kissed her tears gently. His warm breath against her neck. "I am sorry."
"No..." Iris whimpered, but she hugged him closer and looked for his lips. "Why did you ignore me? You don’t like me anymore? Did you find another woman? Did you find pretty woman? Answer me..."
Alright. The last accusation sounded very silly and Iris showed her jealousy side in the worst way possible, even Cane himself thought it was ridiculous. Iris should have known that by now.
"Iris..." Cane could only call her name when she kissed him, but at the same time, she was upset with him. Therefore, her kiss became a little bit aggressive when she started to bite him.
Cane had to pull his head back slightly to save himself from his mate’s aggression, which didn’t make Iris happy at all. She tried to capture his lips again, but Cane already buried his face against the crook of her neck.
"I didn’t mean to ignore you, but it will be hard for me to focus." He couldn’t make an error, he couldn’t afford a mistake in this critical moment and the bad news was, mistake happened all the time, no matter how well you prepared your plan.
At the very least, Cane wanted to reduce his loss in the aftermath. He had to shoulder the responsibility of thousands lives.
And yet, how could he focus when all he wanted was to cuddle with his mate and talk about their baby? Ignoring Iris completely was the best solution that he could think of.
"You are selfish," Iris whimpered, she cried again.
"I am, and I am sorry." Cane nuzzled against her neck. "Please, forgive me."
How Iris could stay mad at him when he was like this? When she understood how hard it was for him? "I forgive you, but I am still mad."
"Okay..." Cane agreed readily.
"Now tell me..."
But, before Iris could finish her words, Cane had moved to the side, removed himself from above her and a second later, Iris immediately knew why.
"No...!" Iris grunted in frustration when Cane shifted into his lycan form and now it was the lycan by her side with his red eyes, staring at her.
There was a frown between the lycan’s eyes, if you could call that... as if saying; ’You are not happy to see me’.
Tonight must be the new moon, it was hard to tell when the sky became very monotonous with only gloomy clouds and pouring rain.
