Kaz and Maria were thrill to see the baby actually had golden eyes, the only fact that could assure them that the alpha was not being fooled anymore and the baby was actually his!
"She has golden eyes!" Maria exclaimed happily, while Kaz was trying to calm the baby, but a big smile plastered on his lips. He was very excited to learn about this too.
"Yes, yes! She has golden eyes! She is the alpha daughter!" Kaz and Maria were in their own world, as they were mesmerized by the baby.
The only thing that bothered them was the fact the baby was a girl and she looked so weak. It seemed they had noticed, the baby took after in this matter, but they hoped the baby was easily sick because she was born ahead of time and when she grew up, she would be a healthy and strong baby.
Only a handful of people, who knew the baby was not a shifter and if Maria and Kaz learned about that, it would add to their disappointment...
"What are you doing?!" Hanna snapped at Kaz, she heard the baby was crying and when she looked around, the sound came from the baby in Kaz’s arms and she recognized Rora’s swaddle. Her missy loved white color, so most of Rora’s clothes and swaddle was in white color, more so the fabric was different. In one look, you could see it was very soft and was very expensive, since the alpha only wanted the best for his daughter.
Hanna marched toward Kaz and Maria angrily, she didn’t know how Rora could end up in their arms, but she wouldn’t let them to touch the baby! She was still upset with the way they treated her missy and how dense they were for their wrongdoings, thinking they were in the right and everything was only misunderstanding.
However, before Hanna could reach Kaz and Maria to get baby Rora, someone had walked past her. It was a flash of black cloak, but in the next second, a shrill scream added to the baby’s cries and the commotion in the main hall.
Everything happened too fast, people didn’t have time to react to that when they learned what actually was going on.
It was the alpha!
Cane snatched his baby from Kaz’s arms and at the same time dislocated his shoulder, so bad Kaz’s bone jutted out from his shoulder and now the old man was wailing on the floor because of the agony, the pain was too much for an old man like him to bear.
And yet the alpha only stared at him coldly before he shifted his attention at his crying daughter. Tears streamed down from Rora’s eyes, as her small face turned very red.
He checked on his baby, whether she was injured or something happened to her, but thankfully, she was fine, aside from a tiny cut on her eyelid. Kaz must have hurt her accidentally when he tried to open Rora’s eyes to see whether or not she had the golden eyes.
And Cane knew immediately what the cause of his baby to cry like this. He fought the urge to kill Kaz for what he had done, but then he decided to move away to calm down his daughter. He would dirty his hand if he had to kill Kaz right now and he didn’t want to hold his baby with hands that smeared with blood.
He forced himself to walk away. These people only upset him and Rora could sense it.
The alpha cradled his baby protectively, his expression was as cold as the frozen lake, even Hanna stopped in her track and didn’t dare to offer her help to calm Rora. She lowered her head fearfully when the alpha walked past her and silent stretched inside the room.
People were confused of what actually was going on, but they didn’t dare to make a peep.
Grace, who just returned from taking the medicine was stunned to see the alpha and baby Rora in his arms, especially when she could sense something was going wrong.
"Al- alpha..." Grace stuttered, she stared at the floor, didn’t dare to lift her head and look at the alpha, while the warrior, who came with her was trembling in fear too when the alpha’s sharp gaze fell on him.
"I told you to stay with my daughter." His voice was icy and this sent shiver down their spines.
"A- apologize, alpha... I need to get the medicine for Rora..." Grace explained herself, she glanced at Kaz and Maria and shocked to discover Kaz’s shoulder was dislocated and a warrior was helping him to correct his bone. The pain must be very unbearable. Did the alpha do that?
