Iris then told Cane about what she felt and how she felt this slightest attachment on him, or how her heart ached when she felt what he felt.
"I thought you could only feel the other person’s feeling and see their memories when they were inflicted by dark magic and you absorbed it." Cane frowned. He hovered above her, while Iris had her back laid down on the makeshift bed inside the carriage.
They had arrived in the pack house, but Cane didn’t want to move yet before he got the whole explanation from his mate.
"At first, I have the same thought, but I can feel the power is growing within me ever since Na’s life essence completely became one with me." Iris became more sensitive with dark magic and she could feel it strongly from Rei and some of the people that came with him. Needless to say, they must have tangled themselves with black magic. "I feel the power is growing..." she muttered to herself.
It was very subtle, until Iris didn’t notice it, but she knew that she was way more powerful than before and surprisingly, it was not the end of it too.
As if there was a pile of mysteries that was ready to be discovered, her power was the same, it waited for her to tap on it.
Iris raised her hand and touched Cane’s wound on his face. "I am certain that I feel like I can read Cedric’s mind when he was nearby."
Cane furrowed his brows. "Like a mindlink."
Iris blinked her eyes. "Cane, what exactly had happened to you and your pack member, why you can’t use mindlink?"
It was a painful memories and Cane was reluctant to talk about it, he was not in the mood to revisit that experience again after he shut it down and Iris could tell.
"Do you know that I can make the other person to see my memories?"
"You did it with Cezi," Cane replied, he remembered Iris mentioned it by passing, therefore she was not sure whether he listened to it or not.
"Yes." She narrowed her eyes. "Let me try something." Iris closed her eyes and tried to concentrate, but it was hard when Cane kept touching her earlobe. "Cane, stop it, I can’t concentrate!" Iris opened her eyes and glared at him, as she swatted his hand away. "Stay still."
"Okay."
The look on his mate’s face when she tried to concentrate was adorable. It was not his fault, if he wanted to touch her, right?
In the beginning, Cane didn’t know what Iris was trying to do, but then he felt it. He just felt it and knew. "Are you trying to read my mind?"
Iris opened her eyes and pursed her lips. "Didn’t work." She indeed tried, but it was not the same like when she projected her own memories to other. "I thought I can read someone else’s mind. Decratic’s followers can do that."
"Maybe you need a little bit more practice." Cane kissed her forehead, comforting her. "I could feel it."
Cane then told her about how he and the other pack member lost their ability to be able to communicate with each other through mindlink. It was not dark magic, but poison, the strong one, to the point, their offspring wouldn’t be able to have mindlink too.
Probably the effect would wear off after a few generations.
Iris was silence for a while, she hesitated to let Cane knew about this, but decided to tell him. "Cane, I think I can restore mindlink between you and your pack member. But, I am not promise it will work, but I can try..."
"You can?"
