Cane and Iris let Rei came over because they wanted to have as many options as possible to save Lou. They had their main decision, but they were open to another suggestion.
If this was not for the merchant, they would let the people from the Holy Kingdom stayed out of this, because they got the hang of the situation, where they were sure they could end this war as soon as possible, since they had covered their basic, such as food supply and the fighters in the battle.
Cane got Cezi on his side and his warriors thanked to Iris, not to mention his mate got the loyalty from the Blue Moon pack thanked to him.
And with the merchant on their side, they helped Cane to gather magic users, who would arrive within a month from now.
They could carry on without the involvement of the Holy Kingdom. But, Lou was in dire situation and as much as they didn’t want to have anything to do with them, they couldn’t do so.
Lou was the only reason why Cane and Iris agreed to let Rei met with them, but of course, everything would go in their term, not the other way around.
"You don’t need to come," Cane said. He put his arm around Iris’s waist and lifted her up to sit on his lap, as he sat down on a chair. It was noticeable that she had gained weight. All of her great appetite was paid off now.
Of course, Cane wouldn’t mention anything about it, he remembered how upset Iris was when people pointed this out. Actually, he liked it this way, she looked healthy. Now, when she was naked, he could see the small bump on her stomach, though you wouldn’t be able to tell when she was wearing dress.
"No. I want to be here," Iris said. There were a few questions she wanted to ask Rei and she needed to listen to the answer directly, on the note if he was willing to answer this.
"Okay," Cane said, kissing her cheek, down to her neck, but Iris stopped him when he started to squeeze her breast.
"Cane," She called his name softly. "Don’t." Rei would be here any time soon, she didn’t want to be caught in this position.
Cane stopped his hand, but he didn’t stop peppering small kissed on her collarbones. "I like your scent." Her scent changed very subtly, but Cane could tell the difference without any problem.
Iris sniffed herself. "I can’t smell myself."
Hearing that, Cane chuckled, but then someone informed the two of them that Rei had arrived and Iris immediately straightened her back, was about to get off Cane’s lap, but the alpha didn’t allow it.
"Sit still." Cane wrapped his arms around her body protectively and kissed her cheek before he allowed Rei to enter the room. Iris didn’t have time to reject this idea when Rei stepped in.
Thus, the first sight that greeted him was the alpha and the luna was being lovey dovey with each other.
"This is not the sight that expected," Rei stated. "I think you two can be more appropriate." There was a hint of anger in his calm voice. It reminded him in the past. There was a moment when he caught the sight of Na was sitting on Lu’s lap and the lycan literally stared at him tauntingly.
And now it happened again. He felt like he saw Lu laughed at him.
"I thought you would still kneel, because I haven’t let you get up." Iris looked innocent, but her words were sharp enough. Cane gave a squeeze on her bottom after what she said and when she lifted her head to look at him with a frown, the alpha’s eyes filled with mirth.
They thought Rei would have strong respond, but instead he was being humble, which didn’t match with his character.
"I am sorry that I can’t go through with my word, because my priority was to keep you safe, luna, so here I am. I need to go wherever you go. I am your protector."
Iris wanted to tell him that she didn’t want him, but then they wouldn’t get their main purpose to let him in. Neither she nor Cane wanted to spend another second with Rei.
"I want you to cure Lou. Whatever you have done to him, you need to undo it." Iris took the charge in this conversation, while Cane watched. His arms around her body were like a snake. No one could steal this woman from him.
"I will do it as my token of apology." Rei nodded solemnly. "But, a long time has passed since the incident, thus I am not sure how his condition right now. I need to see him."
His request did make sense, but Iris wanted to take all the precaution. She was not going to risk Lou’s life.
"Explain to me what you have done to him." Iris wanted to have a good grasp of Lou’s condition and whether or not her guess was correct.
