Will didn’t go straight to Iris’ bedroom. Instead, he looked for Hanna first. He saw the woman near the washing room with the other women, chatting away. She looked brilliant and exuded warmth and gentleness, as if everything became better with her touch alone.
"Hanna..." Will called her, he cursed himself for looking so pathetic. Why would he become so nervous just to call her name?
Hanna turned around and her eyes landed on him, she was smiling and this made Will feel his heart thumping wildly. He felt silly because he didn’t know what to do with his hands that were getting clammy by his sides.
"Yes, Sir Will?" Hanna approached him, while the other girls giggled to see this scene. Will really wanted to tell them to shut up because it created a strange atmosphere between the two.
"I am not a Sir, you can just call me Will."
The giggling from behind became even more noticeable and Will could see how Hanna’s face turned bright red. She tried to make them drop it, but the four girls only laughed it off.
"I can’t do that, you are Alpha’s personal bodyguard." In other words, he held a higher rank than her. "May I know why you are looking for me?" She tried to ignore her friends’ teasing, but he could see how it affected her, in a good way, if Will could say.
"I need your help to call for luna Iris," he said. It was a little bit awkward for him to address Iris as the luna of the pack, but it was her title and it was not polite to call her by her name when he was only a guard.
"She is in her room, you can find her there."
Will scratched his head. "I can’t just barge into her room, right?"
Since Iris couldn’t hear, there was no way she would know even if there was someone right outside her door, no matter how loud he was calling for her or how long he knocked on her door.
"Oh." Hanna immediately understood. "Come with me," she said and the other girls cheered in the background, they were like teenagers.
Hanna shot them a warning glare, but it only made them laugh even more, while Will pretended that he heard nothing.
Both of them walked to Iris’ bedroom in silence. They didn’t know what to say because they didn’t have anything in common to talk about. However, the absence of a conversation left Will confused as to what to do. He wanted to talk to her, but about what? The topics that he could come up with would be so boring to her.
"How is it in the Howling Wolf pack?" He asked, scratching his head. This was the best topic that you could think of? He chided himself.
"I like it here," Hanna replied earnestly, as she smiled lovingly. "I like the people here too. Do you like returning to your homeland?"
"Yes."
"Oh."
And there, another spell of silence.
Thankfully, it was only a ten minute walk and they finally arrived in front of Iris’ bedroom door, right next to the alpha’s.
"I will call her." Hanna then entered the bedroom, while Will waited for them outside. He didn’t stop reproaching himself for choosing such a silly topic to talk to her.
Not long after that, the door was opened and this time, he saw Iris.
