The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 968

Chapter 968: THE FINAL BATTLE (34)

It was a bliss.

Cane watched Iris breastfed their firstborn, while he held their second son. The little ones only a day old, but they could tell which one that was the most active spirit that Iris had seen.

Their firstborn woke up a few times last night, making a baby noise, which woke Cane and Iris up, while the second one would sleep through the night and only wake up when he was hungry, but after that he would fall asleep again.

Like right now, their firstborn was breastfeeding to Iris, while making a few noises, he also had opened his eyes and it was not a surprise when they saw a pair of golden eyes that stared back at them, while the second born was content to be able to sleep with full stomach.

Cane stared at Iris, who was cooing the baby, while the baby made noises, as if to respond to her. It felt like a dream, something that he didn’t even dare to imagine a year ago.

He didn’t even think that one day he would feel this happiness again. The peacefulness, despite the chaotic world out there. He wanted to shield his little family with everything he had.

However, both of them knew, sooner than later, they would need to face the calamity that awaited them out there, but for now, they wanted to enjoy their moment with their new family members.

"Who is that?" Iris asked, she frowned when she heard a little bit commotion out there. Hanna and Aliana just returned after they visited her this morning, because there were a lot of thing they needed to take care of, after all tomorrow a few ships would dock in the harbor and the shifters attempted to flee from this continent.

"Lou," Cane replied, he stood up and walked toward the door with the baby in his arms, only to see Lou was having a ridiculous argumentation with Zale.

Apparently, the merchant wanted to enter the room, but Zale and the other warriors didn’t allow him.

"I want to congratulate her, what’s the matter? It’s not like I am an enemy," Lou said incredulously. "I am her chosen protector, if there was someone, who needed to be here, it should be me."

Lou stopped his rambling when he saw Cane with the baby.

"Don’t make a ruckus here, there is a sleeping baby," Cane said coldly at Lou, all the warriors quieted down because they didn’t want to wake up the little one, even when they guarded the door, they would walk slowly.

"Let me see this cute baby!" Lou said enthusiastically.

"You don’t like little child, Lou," Cane reminded him, which made Lou’s smile vanished in an instant.

"Well, people changed." He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, was not really convincing if he said that he liked a baby now. But, Lou stretched out his arms, asking to carry the baby. "Don’t you want me to check the baby? I am not a healer, but I am close to it. You must have not yet found a healer, right?"

Cane narrowed his eyes. He trusted Lou with his judgment, but he didn’t really trust him to hand over his baby. No, he didn’t really trust anyone with his babies.

"Oh, come on, what if something happened that you two didn’t know? Didn’t she expose to a lot of black magic when she was pregnant with the babies?" Lou frowned to see the distrust in Cane’s eyes.

"If it is black magic, Iris will be more than capable to handle it."

Okay, he got the point.

"What if this related to a health issue?"
