Chapter 151
Raphael's POV I've tried to talk myself out of it but the stupid conversation I had with Alex has taken root in my head and has refused to get out.
The werewolves at the borders didn't ask any questions when they saw me approaching their pack at this ungodly hour. They just let me through without a word and I don't know if I should be grateful about the lack of hassle or worried about the lack of security.
It's possible that they don't see me as a security risk but still, when someone shows up at your pack at one fucking am in the goddamn morning, some questions need to be asked.
Shaking my head, I push that thought away and focus on what made me pursue this insane quest.
Standing in front of the door that I've only seen once, I contemplate if this is a good idea. Daphne is probably sleeping like every other normal person is and she doesn't deserve to have her sleep interrupted when she has work tomorrow.
But thinking about going back to my cold, empty bed in the pack house has my knuckles lifting and giving the door a swift knock.
When I don't hear any sound from the other side of the door, I lift my knuckles again and give the door another knock.
Shuffling is heard from within and I wait with bated breath for the door to be answered.
"Who is it?" Comes Daphne's sleepy voice and guilt twists my gut.
"It's me," I answer, hoping that she recognizes my voice. For some reason, saying my name sounds... wrong?
For a moment, there's silence then I hear her footsteps and the door opens to reveal Daphne standing in front of me in her sleepwear. Her sleepy eyes hold confusion as she looks up at me.
I feel even more stupid when I see the unspoken questions in her eyes. At the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky if she doesn't start avoiding me because she thinks I have some loose screws.
Doing the only thing that I can think of that will serve as an answer to her questions, I step closer to her, ignore the way her eyes widen at my proximity, and lower my head to hers.
I swallow her gasp and use that opportunity to slide my tongue into her mouth, tasting every corner of it. Daphne relaxes into the kiss and her hands slide up my shoulder to curl around my neck.
Walking backward with her in my arms, I push my way into her house and use my foot to kick the door shut behind us.
The noise from the door slamming shut has Daphne pulling away from the kiss. "What's happening here?" She asks with furrowed brows, dark eyes, flushed cheeks, and swollen lips.
"I'm taking what's mine." That's all the answer I give her before my lips close over hers again.
