The Apple of My Eye novel Chapter 1972

Charles knew he had to deal with it sooner or later. Not wanting to delay it any longer, he decided to go to the hospital.

At first, Charles still had some sympathy for Vicky, but it was gone as soon as it came. He didn't expect Vicky to be this bad. Feeling suspicious, he had asked David to look into her. They were surprised to find her record was crystal clean—something Charles had an iffy feeling about.

Normally, Charles didn't have a hard time digging up someone's past. This was the first time that he'd looked into a person and had come up with nothing.

Naturally, he grew suspicious.

As he thought of this, he urged the driver to drive faster.

Upon hearing this, David turned his head and asked, "Mr. Lu, why are you in a hurry? What happened?"

"Nothing. Just help me deal with Vicky later." Charles couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. How could she lose all of her memory like that with just a slight bump to the head?

"All right. Mr. Lu, I'll do whatever you ask me to," David said seriously to Charles.

After a momentary pause, Charles finally told David his plan.

David didn't know what to make of Charles' plan. He cast a meaningful look at Charles.

"What? Can't you do it?" Charles said, looking David in the eye.

David immediately shook his head as he explained, "No. It's just that I don't know what to think."

"Do you also think that Vicky's just pretending she's lost her memory?" Charles prompted.

"No. I just think there's something wrong with her. I'm afraid that we won't be able to trick her," David said.

However, Charles merely grinned, seemingly confident of his plan.

After a pause, Charles said, "Then don't try to trick her. Just do what I tell you to do."

"All right, sir." David decided to let it go upon seeing the confidence on Charles's face.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the hospital.

Vicky was talking to a nurse when they came in. She looked immediately happy the minute she saw Charles. She jumped off the bed and flung herself at Charles, rubbing her face against his chest.

"Charles, I knew it. I knew you'd come to visit me now that you're done with work." Vicky acted as if she'd really expected Charles to come.

"Of course, I've come. I have something to tell you." Charles suddenly became very serious.

Vicky had no idea what Charles was going to say. She suddenly looked serious too.

"Okay, Charles. Go ahead. I'm listening." Vicky looked at Charles with an innocent expression.

Charles didn't say anything. He just looked back at David.

Upon seeing this, David stepped forward and handed the document in his hand to Charles before nodding at Charles and stepping back again.

"I hired some psychological experts to test you. These are the results. It says nothing's wrong with you, and you didn't really lose your memory. Can you explain that to me?" Charles looked at Vicky emotionlessly.

Naturally, one would have expected him to be furious right now. On the contrary, he looked quite calm as if he wasn't surprised at all.

"Charles, you don't trust me?" Vicky didn't back down. She suddenly looked hurt as if she wasn't guilty at all.

"How could I trust you? You say you love me, but what you're doing right now isn't love!" Charles glared at Vicky.
