"Yes." Sheryl nodded. She didn't mind what Shirley had said. But from her words, it was clear that Charles' presence was important for Shirley, and she couldn't think of a life where she would not be able to see her father again. How much her kids yearned to be with their father!
Sheryl's heart ached at the thought of it.
'There's still a long way to go. How am I going to take care of my children?' Sheryl began to feel uncertain.
At the suburban villa
Vicky kept calling Charles. But to her surprise, Charles didn't answer the phone.
Every time her call got rejected, Vicky grew increasingly impatient. After a few more attempts, she flung the phone on the bed.
"What do you mean, Charles? Why aren't you answering my phone? Are you doing this on purpose? How dare you do this to me?" Vicky murmured to herself, anxiously pacing back and forth in her room.
Vicky was least bothered about how Charles would feel after he woke up from the coma. What she wanted to do now was to take advantage of this opportunity to punish him for being unfaithful to her.
Had it not been for Rob's intervention, she wouldn't have let Charles go so easily!
Vicky felt more restless as she thought of her unfinished revenge.
Just then, her phone rang.
She sprang up, expecting the call to be from Charles.
"Charles!" Vicky screamed out his name in excitement even before she checked her phone.
"Is that the only name that you think of all the time?" Rob's voice reached Vicky's ears. His voice was dripping with sarcasm.
Vicky was surprised to hear Rob's words. She answered, "Oh! It's you! I thought it was Charles."
"It seems there is only one man in your heart, and all your waking thoughts revolve around him. Well, if you miss him so much, why don't you call him?" Rob suggested.
"I also want to know how he is now. I have been calling him since morning, but I have failed to get through to him. Has he discovered something? Why hasn't he answered my calls all this while?" Vicky asked anxiously.
"Really? You are not so stupid!" said Rob with a sneer.
"What do you mean?" Vicky asked, sounding surprised at Rob's remark.
"The knockout drops you used last night didn't work. Charles was able to make it out," Rob said discreetly.
"What?" Vicky was left aghast. She shouted, "How could it be possible? I saw it with my own eyes that he got was in a daze and became unconscious. He would do whatever he was asked to do. How could he find it out?"
"He pretended to be drugged and that he was listening to you. In short, Charles fooled you."
Vicky's face turned pale. She thought for a while and agreed with Rob.
"But, how did you come to know that my plan failed last night?" Vicky asked in a low voice.
