" Whoa honey, I love this guy! He is so charming! " Georgia exclaimed excitedly and her voice was so girlish and full of life that made Carla wondered if it was the same woman who laid bedridden few hours ago. Carla rolled her eyes inwardly at her mother's girlish attitude but gave her a sweet smile, if not too sweet smile.
" Now that you're all better, I'm going back to Mexico in the morning " She announced
" Why?! " Georgia shrieked
" Because obviously, there's nothing wrong with you, you just missed me that's all, and I'm here now " Carla said and exhaled a tired sigh
" So stay with me longer, please baby " Georgia whined and pouted
Carla reached out for her mother's hands and squeezed them in hers " Mom, I have my own life to live too, I'm getting married to one of the most wonderful guys I've ever met in a week and I've not prepared a thing for the wedding. Instead, I ran here when I heard you were sick and now that you're all better, I should go live my own life too " Carla took a deep breath and her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
Georgia gazed at daughter sadly " Honey, come on, don't cry, it's just that I missed you so much that my heart ache, but I couldn't ask you to come for a visit because I know your purpose out there is to make enough money to clear the family's debt, thank you so much honey but I think you've done enough. It's time you go enjoy your youthful days " A tear slid down her cheek and Carla reached out to wipe it off.
Then she pulled Georgia into a warm hug " Thank you Mom, I love you "
Georgia sniffed and smiled wistfully " I love you more honey, I love you so much that you remind me of your father "
" It's okay Mom, don't cry " Carla said and drew back from the hug.
" When are you leaving? " Georgia said, wiping away the remains of her tears.
Carla shook her head " I'll stay with you for two more days, then I'll leave for Mexico "
Georgia's eyes widened in excitement " Thank you baby! Now, we can catch up on old times "
" Only for a few days, Mom " Carla said firmly, snapping her fingers in front of Georgia.
Georgia chuckled wryly " Those two days will leave a memory, honey " She said in a whisper.
Like Georgia said, the two days passed by quickly with them catching up on old times and making some memories. They did almost everything together. Secretly, both of them wished they were a whole family again, a complete one. Davis's demise had left a scar none of them could forget. She had the best moments of her life in those days and when it came to an end, she was quite sad, she had spent some good moments of her life with her Mom. Leaving for Mexico again was as sad for her as it was for Georgia but Carla needed to be strong for both of them.
