The Beauty and the Brain by Natalie Jones novel Chapter 162

Chapter 162

Marie had a headache from anger and wished she could just rush into the army camp and strangle Darwin to

death right then and there.

Wasn’t it said that the phone was confiscated by the instructor? How could this person still have a phone to

This time, the whole internet thought that Darwin was going to win the best actor proudly, but the problem

was, Darwin was still in the army camp “cultivating” himself. It would be good enough if he could play the role

of Jansen without being scolded, let alone win the best actor. Even Marie thought it was too baseless.

Over on Sasha’s side, there was no impact at all. After the opening ceremony, Sasha smoothly joined the

production team. Aubree also went to the production team to ensure that the script could be successfully

filmed.

Marie suddenly found herself with some free time, realized that it was about time, and decided to go pick up.

Darwin.

However, when Marie looked at Darwin, she knew that he still hadn’t understood what camaraderie really

was.

What could be done to make Darwin truly understand Jansen’s pain and guilt? The kind of regret that if only

they had been stronger, their teammate wouldn’t have died?

Marie racked her brains, but other than throwing Darwin into the army camp, she really couldn’t think of

anything else.

Dennis glanced at her and said helplessly, “In a couple of days, there will be a military drill over there. If you

don’t pick him up today, he’ll be able to make it just in time.”

“Drill? What drill?” Marie asked.

Dennis pulled out some materials for her to look at and said, “It was a realistic drill conducted without prior

notice to train the new recruits’ responsiveness. It can also be considered their final exam after a period of

training.”

Marie suddenly came up with an idea and looked at Dennis, “What do you think, if Darwin participated in this

simulated drill and saw his comrades fall, would he be able to inhabit his role better?”

Dennis nodded, “It’s quite possible. After all, many actors try to experience life firsthand in order to inhabit their role. Once Darwin experiences it, he’ll know.”

However, Marie hesitated a bit, “Would this be too cruel to him? Watching his comrades die, that kind of feeling…”

“Marie, this is just a drill, no one will die, every training soldier has to participate, it’s just that Darwin is a transfer student,” Dennis comforted her.

Marie nodded, “All right then, let’s wait until the drill is over and then bring Darwin back.”

Darwin was still sitting in the dormitory, waiting for Marie to send a car to pick him up. He calculated the

Get Bo

days, and figured that that day should be the day.

Suddenly, an alarm sounded outside. Darwin made a noise and sat up in bed, not moving. He thought it was

just a fake drill, and since he was about to leave, he didn’t want to play along with them.

However, the alarm kept ringing, unlike the previous times when it would stop after a few rings to wake them

Someone was running in the hallway, another person rushed into Darwin’s dormitory and pulled him out,

while someone else shouted that it was not a drill as they ran towards the back hill.

Darwin, with a confused look on his face, was dragged out and crouched behind a tree on the back hill. Next.

to him was the tanned man from last time. Darwin asked, “What are we doing this time?”

The man, looking confused, shook his head and said, “I don’t know. I just heard someone say it wasn’t a drill and told us to run. I grabbed a gun and ran.”

Darwin leaned against the tree trunk, a blade of grass in his mouth, and said slovenly, “Come on, it’s probably just another trick to deceive people.”

The man also leaned against it and said, “Who cares, let’s just stay here and not move.”

Darwin followed him and sat there for almost half an hour. Just when he was getting bored, he suddenly heard a gunshot.

Darwin and the man both shuddered, as before, the drill didn’t actually involve shooting guns!

The two people looked at each other, making sure they hadn’t misheard, and said with a bewildered

expression, “It can’t be true, can it?”

Darwin was almost in tears. Was Marie trying to kill him? They had agreed it was just a crash course in training, so why did it turn into a real fight?

The man was also a bit scared and said, “I heard there’s a terrorist group causing trouble around here these days, could it be them?”

Darwin was even more dumbfounded, “Holy crap, could I really be this unlucky?”

Darwin pulled the man back a little and said, “Then let’s not go out, shall we wait and see if someone comes

to rescue us?”

The man glanced at him and said, “What are you talking about? We are soldiers, who else could be better at saving us than ourselves?”

Darwin muttered, “I’m not a soldier…”

Bang!

Another gunshot rang out, this time accompanied by a scream. The two people were now completely convinced that this was definitely not a drill.

Darwin pulled him back and said, “Don’t go out now! Isn’t it dangerous to go out at this time? We don’t even

Get Boots

know how many people are out there. Let’s wait until it gets dark and then go explore!*

The man thought for a moment, agreed with what Darwin said, and followed him to the bushes by the tree.

He lay down and remained motionless.

Gradually, the sky had darkened, and just now, there were a few more screams. If they continued to fight like this, everyone on their side would be killed.

The man became a bit anxious and said, “It’s already dark! I’ll go take a look around and see what’s going on.”

Darwin shrank his neck and didn’t move. He wasn’t from around here; he was the youngest son of the Robert family, a heartthrob idol in the entertainment industry. He wanted to return to his dazzling life and didn’t want

to die in this desolate, uninhabited place.

The man glanced at him, smiled, patted his shoulder, and said, “Darwin, I know you’re different from us. When you go back, focus on acting in movies, and remember to give me an autograph!”
