The Beauty and the Brain by Natalie Jones novel Chapter 198

Chapter 198

Olive walked over to Marie, knelt, and prostrated herself to the old man twice, saying, “Oh my, I didn’t expect you to be so calculating. In the end, the Spence family is still ours, and it has nothing to do with you!”

With Marie’s eyes closed, she knelt straight without saying a word. Olive was like a noisy raven, and Marie did not want to hear a word.

“Marie, why are you pretending to be noble now? Didn’t you say that you wanted to kill

us? Now who killed whom? You’re a jinx. People who treat you well don’t end well. Just look at your mother, Iliana, and Grandpa. Maybe your husband won’t live long in the future…” Olive nagged endlessly.

Marie suddenly opened her eyes. She was not a jinx; Olive and her family were the jinxes.

If Mia had not come over to make trouble, Asher would have been fine. Gavin said that

Asher could live for another year or even longer.

She pounced over, pressed Olive to the floor, grabbed her by the neck, and shouted.

viciously, “Olive Spence! Shut up! You, your mother, and your whole family deserve to

die! You are the jinx! It’s all because of you!”

Marie’s eyes were scarlet, and her expression was ferocious and cruel like never before.

Her eyes were like demons returning from hell, and she wanted to eat the person in

front of her alive.

Olive was out of breath from being pinched by Marie and reached out desperately to

grab her, but the latter had no intention of letting go at all.

Even after Olive scratched her face, Marie still squeezed Olive’s neck tightly as if she

was going to choke the other woman to death.

Olive’s vision turned black, and she suddenly heard someone roar. “Stop!”

Olive strained to open her eyes to look at the door and saw that Noel was running over. She stretched out her hand with difficulty and asked Noel for help. It took Noel a lot of

effort to break her free from Marie’s hand.

Marie was pushed to the side, and Olive coughed violently as if she had just come out of the jaws of death. Olive cursed, “Marie! You… Ahem! You’re crazy!”

Noel walked over to help her up and said, “What are you doing, Marie?”

Marie shook Noel off and sneered, “What are you doing? Didn’t you see? I want her to die! I want you all to die! Noel, weren’t you in a car accident? Grandpa was furious because of you. Why didn’t you die in the hospital?”

The light in Noel’s eyes dimmed for a moment. He opened his mouth, but he did not know what to say. It did not seem like she was wrong to blame them for Asher’s death.

However, Olive was not happy. She rushed over and pushed Marie, cursing, “Crazy woman! What are you talking about?”

Noel reached out to catch her falling body. He heard that she had not eaten much these days and had suddenly lost a lot of weight.

Marie shook him off and rushed over to slap Olive with all her strength. She stared at her and said, “I told you to shut up! Bitch!”

This was the first time that Marie was so angry. She had never said a bad word to Olive

after fighting with her for so long, and she could even pretend to call Olive her sister in front of people.

However, at this moment, she was as ferocious as a ghost, wishing to throw the world’s

most vicious words at Olive.

Luca and Jolie rushed in from outside when they heard sounds. When they saw the

scene, they rushed over immediately. Luca pushed Noel away and asked, “Are you okay,

Marie?”

She sneered and shook her head, saying, “It’s okay. I’m still alive.”

Luca pulled her and said, “Go back and get some sleep. You have to carry his urn back to

Las Vegas tomorrow.”

Marie nodded, and Jolie came over to help her back to her room and put her to bed.

The next day, she woke up early in the morning. She rummaged through the closet and changed into a gray sweater with a black coat over it. Jolie put white flowers on the chest of her coat. Marie’s eyes reddened, and she said, “Let’s go.”

Jolie followed Marie downstairs. Luca and Edward were already waiting downstairs. The four of them took a car and went straight to the airport.

Mason had the urn in his hands, and the whole family was rarely so tidy. They got on the plane and flew to Las Vegas.

Before Marie boarded the plane, she called Dennis again, but his phone was still off. She called Cullen instead, but his phone was also off.

The uneasiness in her heart grew stronger and stronger. She turned her head and said to Luca, “After getting off the plane, can you check Dennis’ recent movements? I can’t

contact him.”

Luca nodded and followed her on the plane. As soon as Marie sat down, she felt tired and fell asleep again in a daze. When Luca woke her up, they were already in Las Vegas.

Although Asher had lived in New York for more than three years, he still cared about Las Vegas. He had bought a cemetery for himself long ago, and it was also in Las Vegas. Even if the Spence family were pretending, they would still send his ashes back to Las Vegas for burial.

After getting off the plane, they went straight to the cemetery. When they put the small box into the graveyard, Marie felt a sharp pain in her heart. She had shed too many tears, but she did not cry this time.

The ashes were laid at the graveyard, and flowers were offered. After the ceremony, Marie was exhausted. She leaned on Jolie and said, “Go back. I’m tired.”

Jolie nodded and helped her walk to the car. They went back to the estate in Las Vegas.

Marie went back to sleep and woke up in a daze. Her phone kept ringing, and she picked it up and asked, “Luca, have you found out where Dennis is?”

“Mr. Whitney did go to Paris, but he left with Mr. Philemon as soon as he arrived. I don’t know where he is now,” Luca said.

“Okay, I got it. Book me two flight tickets to Paris. You come with me.” After saying that, Marie hung up the phone.
