The Beauty and the Brain by Natalie Jones novel Chapter 215

Chapter 215

“If I don’t do it myself, who else will?” Dennis’ voice sounded above her head, with a charming aura.

Marie hung her head and said in a soft voice, “Cullen… Doesn’t Cullen follow you all day long?”

“But I don’t want to live with Cullen for the rest of my life,” Dennis said.

With her head hung low and her ears red from blushing, Marle muttered, “I don’t want you and Cullen to spend

the rest of your life…”

Dennis chuckled and lifted her chin. The girl’s face was flushed as if she had drunk half a bottle of red wine.

Dennis remembered the first time he saw Marle. Her eyes were agile, lively, vigilant, and alert.

For some reason, the way Marie looked at him was gentle, reliant, and trustworthy. The vigilance and cleverness that she had built up all her defensiveness and acumen with disappeared in front of him.

Dennis pulled her into his arms and lowered his head to kiss her lips. It was rare for Marie to not dodge and to respond shyly.

After a long time, Dennis let go of her and said in a hoarse voice, “I’m going to take a shower.”

Silently, Marie pulled him back and said, “Gavin said that your wound can’t get wet…”

Dennis was speechless.

Sooner or later, he would be tortured to death by this young girl, Marie Spence!

Finally, Marie brought a basin of water to wipe Dennis’ back. Dennis pulled her into his arms and kissed her

again, splashing water everywhere. With resentment in her eyes, she ran to the bathroom to take a shower

before settling down for the night.

The next day, Gavin saw the two sleeping in the same bed. He pinched his eyebrows helplessly, restrained himself from the urge to poke them to death with a syringe, and comforted himself silently, thinking. Don’t get angry… Don’t get angry… Sooner or later, though, he knew Dennis and Marie would break his patience.

In the past few days, Dennis and Marie had been recuperating in King Organization. With Gavin taking care of them, both of them recovered quickly.

Marie wanted to see what the place where Dennis lived was like. Finally, she got the permission of Clayton. Accompanied by Luca, she walked around King Organization and touched grass wherever possible.

Gavin finally nodded and agreed to their return to America when they started getting moldy from

recuperation.

As long as Gavin said that they were fine, they really would be fine. Dennis’ gunshot and knife wounds had almost recovered, and his wife’s injuries were completely healed.

Cullen arranged a flight back to New York the next morning. This time, Marie graciously held Dennis’ hand. From now on, she had nothing to be afraid of. She just needed to follow this man obediently and for the rest of her life. There was nothing to be afraid of except death.

Get Boros

After more than ten hours of flight, Marie fell asleep In Dennis’ arms. Cullen was very perceptive and sent for

a blanket, and Dennis carefully covered her up.

Cullen said in a low voice, “Mr. Whitney, about the Spence family…”

Dennis raised his hand, signaling Cullen not to say anymore. He said coldly. “We’ll talk about it when we get

back.”

Cullen nodded and sat back in his seat.

After arriving in New York, Marie rubbed her eyes and followed Dennis out of the plane. Cullen had already.

called a car to pick them up. She was still groggy, so after getting into the car with Dennis, she fell asleep

again.

The car drove all the way back to Glorious Estate. Dennis got out of the car, held Marie in his arms, and carried her straight back to Glorious Estate’s bedroom. He tucked her in the corner of the quilt and told her to sleep well before walking out.

Cullen stood in the living room and said, “Mr. Whitney, during the time you and Ms. Spence were away, New York has been in turmoil. If you want to go back to the Spence family now, I’m afraid it won’t be easy…”

Dennis stood in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, looked at the traffic outside, and said coldly. “With

me around, nothing will happen to her.”

Marie slept until seven o’clock in the evening. When she sat up in a daze, she saw the familiar surroundings

and realized that she had arrived at Glorious Estate.

Anyway, she had gotten used to sleeping in Dennis’ arms, so as long as he was there, she could sleep at

ease. She probably wouldn’t wake up even if the sky collapsed.

She washed her face and walked out of the bedroom. Dennis was sitting on the sofa in the living room reading documents. Yawning, Marie walked over and said, “Why are you working now? Gavin said you can’t

work too hard.”

Dennis smiled and pulled her over, saying, “You haven’t married me yet, and you’re already caring about me?”

Marie rolled her eyes at him and said, “Who cares about you?”

“You.” Dennis looked at her with a smile.

Without saying anything. Marie rubbed her stomach and said, “I’m hungry…”

Dennis pulled her toward the dining room and said helplessly, “If you slept any longer, I would have asked Gavin to come and check if you took sleeping pills, you little pig.”

Sitting at the dining table, Marie picked up her cutlery and ate while muttering, “I’m not a pig!”

When Dennis came back, he asked Melissa to cook dinner and waited for Marie to wake up. After eating steak for so long, she finally got to have something different. Melissa’s cooking was good, so she ate an extra plate of pasta.

Once she finished eating and drinking, Marie began to feel melancholy. Now that the matter with Dennis was

resolved, the Spence family was likely divided up. If she didn’t go back soon, she was afraid that she would

really lose her foothold in the future.

Dennis looked at her tangled face and asked, “Thinking about the Spence family?”

Marie nodded and said, “Grandpa is gone, and Mia’s children are all outsiders. The family can’t be handed

over to just anyone!”

Dennis stroked her long hair and asked, “What do you want to do?”

“Go back. As long as Mason knows the truth, he will understand that he has trusted the wrong person for so

many years. He won’t be stupid enough to give the company to someone else, will he?” Marie asked, looking

at Dennis.

Dennis sighed and said, “I’ll go back with you in a couple of days. I’ll go to the company tomorrow. There are
