The Beta's Regret (Eden and Eros) novel Chapter 217

(Rose's Pov)

I felt a sharp pain in my head, and winced as I tried to open my eyes. At first it felt almost impossible- like with every muscle, it seemed that my head was about to split.

It took a few moment before my eyes finally fluttered open.

The room was in a blur. I couldn't focus on anything. I closed my eyes again and opened them, and slowly my sight got better.

The first thing I saw clearly was Olivia’s face directly in front of mine.

She was bent forward just so her face could get to my level.

“Olivia,” I whispered. Myvoice sounded raspy and tired.

She rolled her eyes at me and straightened up “You are awake.” She said.

I tried to touch her, but a strange pressure on my wrist stopped me.

I looked down.

That was when I noticed that I sat on a chair, and my wrist and arms were securely tied to it with a thick rope.

I panicked and jerked my arm away, trying to cut the ropes.

Nothing worked.

“Don't bother.” Olivia snapped. “Griffin made sure you won't be able to get out of that.” She pointed at the rope.

“What…” I trailed off as my throat dried up. I swallowed hard and swiped my tongue over my poached lips.

“Do you have something to say?” Olivia smirked.

I sighed and nodded my head “What are you doing? What happened? Why am I here?” I remembered the last moments before I passed out. Olivia was smiling cruelly.

My heart stung. Was she the reason for this?

“Don't you remember?” Olivia raised a brow.

“I do. You gave me a drink.” I said softly. “I took it. I drank it, and now, here I am.” I was trying hard not to believe what I had in mind. I needed to hear it straight from Olivia.

There was no way my own daughter would betray me. Was there?

I was taken aback when Olivia began to laugh hysterically. Her voice filled the room, and with every sound she made, my heart sank, and I began to lose hope.

“Tell me it wasn't you.” I said

Olivia scoffed as she started calmly “I can't believe you are my mother. I thought you would have been smart enough, but you weren't. You walked right into my trap without any suspicions.”

“Olivia!” I frowned. “What is wrong with you?”

“I'm curious.” She began to walk in a slow circle around me. I followed her movement with my eyes as far as I could before she stopped behind me and leaned in to whisper in my ear.

“How could you have been stupid enough to believe that I would want to leave my father for… you?” She asked.

I closed my eyes and bit my lip so hard I almost drew blood. Griffin had done a good job of making Olivia hate me completely.

I wondered if there was any hope that Olivia would come to believe me one day.

“I thought you needed me.” I said quietly.

“Need you?” Olivia laughed again.
