(Eros Pov)
There was a long pause.
At that moment, I looked at Ryker in shock. I never would have imagined that the same man I had a feud with, would be the same person to defend me when it matters most.
Ryker looked back at me with a smile. He patted my shoulder before facing Pison again.
My lips slightly parted in disbelief as I looked at the traitorous group of three. Pison, my cousin who I had given my inheritance for, before.
Alice, Eden’s Ex- friend who tried to kill her… and then Arthur, my best friend.
My heart and fist clenched tightly as the waves of betrayal hit me. My gaze lingered on Arthur who lacked the full confidence to look me straight in the eyes.
My cousin laughed, his voice ringing out through the arena. He slowly turned around, arms stretched out as he showed himself to the crowd. I heard a few gasps around as people began to recognize who he was.
“I know you all know exactly who I am.” He smirked. “Your king!”
A loud murmur broke out among the crowd.
Elder Crandall who had been silent all along suddenly spoke up.
“You are no king. You were dethroned. Do not claim a title that you abused.” Elder Crandall snapped.
Pison spun around and faced him.
“A king's authority cannot be defiled. It was my throne, my power. Mine to wield and use the way I choose.” He frowned. “You stole it from me and decided to give it to Eros.”
Elder Crandall scoffed. “You have no hold over the throne. Your reign is over. Eros would have been king instead of you if only he acted early enough”
Pison growled and faced the crowd again as he roared out.
“I am your king! It was my right. But the Elders here,” he stretched his hand to the Elders, “decided to give my crown to my little cousin.”
He laughed. “Eros the scared little boy. He has no strength in him. He runs at the mere sight of danger, that is why he couldn't be king in the first place, because he knew he had no power to protect you, but I do. I will lay down my life for everyone in this arena if I need to, or I will take every single life away if I need to.”
A chilling gasp rounded out from the crowd.
“Enough.” Elder Crandall barked out. “Eros is the rightful heir to the throne, not you.”
At first, it started as a murmur, but soon the crowd began to throw their opinions in very loud voices as they angrily threw accusing fingers at Pison.
“You were a horrible king!” a woman screamed from the crowd.
“You should have been killed instead of the crown taken away from you. My daughter died due to your terrible decisions.”
Another screamed.
“We want freedom.”
“How dare you threaten us!”
Pison eyes widened in surprise. He raised a hand in the air asking for silence, but it didn’t work. Then he shouted.
“Silence.”

This book is basically the same as Catching Genesis by Nicole Riddley, so don't waste your time on the crappy zoom and random % and 1/4 idk bout y'all but that got annoying quick...

Not sure why it is so difficult to read from chapter 8....it's like it is zoomed in permanently, I can't see the end of the sentences......
