The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 234

Kieran knew he was in the wrong, so he was at a loss for words for quite some time.

Finally, taking a deep breath, Kieran said, “Fine, you’ve had your say. Now, what do you want for compensation? Just tell me.”

“That’s more like it.” Freya had been waiting for Kieran to say that. With a cold demeanor, she said, “I want you to promise never to go after the Dawson family again and to leave me alone. Since we’ve called off our engagement, we owe nothing to each other. I got injured because you wrongly accused me, so you’re paying for my medical bills.”

“That’s it?”

“Yes, that's it.” Freya looked at Kieran and added, “But if you feel remorse and want to offer me financial compensation, I wouldn’t mind. Consider it a breakup fee.”

When Kieran heard the words ‘breakup fee,’ his expression cooled. For some reason, those words made him uncomfortably uneasy.

“Having second thoughts?”

“Fine. You’ll get it.” Kieran agreed without hesitation.

Freya wasn’t too surprised. After all, money was the least of Kieran’s worries. A few million for a breakup fee wouldn’t dent his bank account.

“Since it was my fault that you got injured so badly, I’ll take full responsibility while you’re recovering.”

"Good." Freya nodded, sort of happy. "At least you're not totally heartless."

“So, tomorrow I’ll have Jarrett process your discharge papers, and you’ll stay at the Sutton Mansion during your recovery.”

Upon hearing that, the smile faded from Freya’s face, and she immediately retorted, “Why should I recover at your place?”

“I’ve arranged for the head of the hospital to consult with the best doctors from abroad for your hand. If you don’t want to end up unable to use your right hand for the rest of your life, you’ll listen to me.”
