The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back (Thalassa and Kris) novel Chapter 118

Chapter 118

“I’m fucking going crazy, Alden. I need to see her,” Kris gritted out, pacing his office.

Last night, after leaving the Miller Mansion, he had wanted to go straight to Thalassa to reaffirm his innocence. But Alden had dissuaded him from it, telling him that he needed to wait for some time for Thalassa to reflect on everything so that they could have a calm conversation about it later.

And today, Alden was saying the same thing.

“How long is it going to take?” Kris muttered, his frustration bubbling over. “Surely, she’s had enough time to reflect and will be willing to listen to reason by now.” With a decisive nod, he added, “I’m going to see her. I can’t wait any longer.”

Just as he was about to leave his office, a knock sounded at the door. Kris opened it to find Millie standing there. “You’re late,” he saud, a barbed edge to his voice.

“Sorry,” Millie replied, stepping inside. “I had to go see Thalassa after hearing about what happened.”

Kris’s ears perked up as he closed the door behind her. “What did you two talk about?”

“She told me she believes it was you who paid her model to destroy her dresses,” Millie answered, her tone matter -of–fact.

Kris clenched his jaw, his frustration mixing with disappointment. Alden had been right; a single night wasn’t enough for Thalassa to see reason.

“I hope you tried to make her see how ridiculous that accusation is,”

“No, I didn’t,” Millie admitted, meeting his gaze with steady eyes.

Kris stared at her, clearly displeased. “Millie, why didn’t-

“I’m sorry, but every time I defend you, Thalassa gets upset, and it’s not fair to me,” Millie interrupted, her voice firm. “She’s my friend, and it doesn’t look good that almost every time I see her, I’m defending the man who hurt her so much.”

Kris’s nostrils flared. “I didn’t-”

Millie cut him off again. “Yes, you did, Sir. You might have been deceived by the evidence you were given, but that doesn’t change the fact that you made her suffer during your marriage and threw her out in the middle of the night after your divorce. So I’m sorry, but you’ll have to resolve your issues with Thalassa yourself. If you want to fire me because of that, then go ahead.”

Kris flicked his tongue over his lips in bemusement. Millie had never spoken to him like this before, but he could see where she was coming from.

Sensing the tension, Alden stepped in to defuse it. “There’s something I don’t get,” he said, furrowing his brow.” Why would that model destroy Thalassa’s dresses knowing the cameras were on her?”

His eyes blazed with fury, his fists clenched as if Clark were standing in front of him, ready to be punched.

“Kris, let’s not jump to conclusions,” Alden cautioned, raising his hands. “There are already too many suspects as it is–first your mother, then Karen, and now Clark Morgan?”
