The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 728

Chapter 728

“I don’t want to have anything to do with him anymore. Besides, in my current condition, even if I undergo a liver transplant, there’s no guarantee it will succeed, and it might not even be effective,” Amelia said. If she were only in stage one or two, a liver transplant would significantly increase her chances of survival. However, she had reached stage three, and it was already too late. Even if the surgery were successful, there was a high chance it wouldn’t make a difference. “I can have Jon find the best doctors to perform the surgery for you,” Rosalie hurriedly suggested.

Amelia smiled gently at her. “Rosalie, thank you for everything you’ve done for me. It’s already more than enough. I don’t want to spend my last few months in a hospital bed. If I undergo surgery now, I might become bedridden for the rest of my life.”

“But…”

“I don’t want to waste these few months. The surgery doesn’t hold much significance for me at this point,” Amelia continued. She was aware that her condition was deteriorating every day.

In that case, why bother to go through all the trouble?

Rosalie understood that Amelia had accepted her fate. It was partly because of the surgery’s difficulty, and partly due to her aversion to Warren.

“Amelia, you still have Aiden and Mrs. Haab. Are you really willing to leave them?” Rosalie asked.

Amelia could only smile bitterly at her. “I’m not willing, but what can I do? Rosalie, I know what you want to say, but I’ve already made my decision. I can’t afford to gamble on the success of the surgery in my current state.”

Rosalie’s heart sank. After all, no one had any certainty that the surgery would definitely be successful. There was no guarantee that even if the surgery was successful, the cancer cells wouldn’t spread further, or that there wouldn’t be any adverse reactions post-surgery, and so on.

She could understand why Amelia couldn’t afford to take the gamble.

After Rosalie left, Matilda came over and said, “Amelia, since Warren is willing to donate his liver, why don’t you accept it? Having a glimmer of hope is better than no hope at all!”

Matilda overheard the conversation between Rosalie and Amelia just now. She understood that the phone call refusing the kidney donation was not Warren’s intention at all, and he had no idea about it.

“Mom, I’m afraid!” Amelia confessed. “Even though I know there’s a glimmer of hope, I’m afraid that my body won’t be able to handle the surgery now, or even if

I undergo the surgery, I will be bedridden. The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment when it fails.”

Fate had often given her hope in the past, only to follow it with devastating disappointment.

Matilda felt suffocated. For a moment, she didn’t know how to advise Amelia. Perhaps, Amelia’s fears were something she herself could relate to as well.

In the following days, Amelia didn’t return to her food cart. Instead, she took Aiden to kindergarten every day, stayed at home with Matilda, and went for regular checkups at the hospital.

Her life was peaceful, and she felt a newfound sense of fulfillment.

Maybe, she thought, she could finally set aside the burdens of life and quietly enjoy the life she loved.

She could accompany Matilda to the market, cook a nice meal at home, and use her phone to create a digital photo album of Aiden…

She could do all the things she had missed over the years because of her busy life. When it was almost time, Amelia bid goodbye to Matilda and left the house to pick Aiden up from the kindergarten.

Unbeknownst to her, not far behind, a car silently followed her.

Warren’s heart ached as he watched Amelia’s retreating figure.

Amelia didn’t want to see him again, and his presence only seemed to repel her. Therefore, he could only resort to such a method, silently watching over her. He didn’t even know how to make her accept his liver.

Rosalie had simply said to him, “Amelia has made her choice, and it’s difficult to change her mind now. You’ll have to think of another way. If you want to save her, be prepared to donate your liver at any time.”

He certainly wanted to save her, so he quit drinking and had his meals planned by a nutritionist, all to get his liver in the best possible condition for her.

Warren continued to drive, following the bus that Amelia boarded. He watched as she got off the bus and arrived at the entrance of the kindergarten, waiting there like many other parents.

Among the group of parents, her figure looked particularly slender. Her

complexion seemed pallid, and she appeared physically fragile. Yet, her clothes were clean and neat.

Even though Amelia was ill, she still paid attention to her appearance. Warren knew that because she was here to pick up Aiden, and she didn’t want Aiden to be looked down upon by other parents because of her.

Sometimes, even Warren himself found it somewhat pathetic and ridiculous. How could his son be looked down upon by others?

However, all of this was caused by him.
