"Alright, spill the beans, I'm all ears," Dorothy said, her eyes twinkling with amusement as she gazed at him.
This seemed to embarrass him a bit.
After a brief moment of stunned silence, his lips thinned into a straight line, a mix of resignation and amusement on his face.
"Not today, let's save it for another time."
He always strived for perfection in everything he did.
He wanted their memories to be something special, not just an ordinary day where she became his wife.
After all, Everett was the kind of guy who'd even tattoo the date 08/25 on his body as something significant.
...
When Dorothy shared the news with Karen, expecting her to be thrilled, Karen actually groaned in dismay.
"How could Everett agree already? I had so many plans still in the pipeline!"
"Dorothy, I even had a whole new career path lined up!"
"Maybe you should just go for a third child with Jeffrey, stop causing trouble," Dorothy quickly suggested.
Karen's response was a hearty laugh, "Hahaha, don't worry, I wouldn't dare mess with anyone but you. If it were someone else, Jeffrey would've been jealous to the moon! You wouldn't believe what he asked me the other day."
"Oh?"
"He was wondering if I started having a thing for Everett because he thought Everett was... bigger."
It took Dorothy a moment to catch on.
Once she did, she couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity.
"Is Jeffrey feeling insecure?"
"Absolutely! Men can be so sensitive about these things," Karen giggled. "But I gave him an earful, and he's calmed down now. Can you believe he was actually worried I might fancy Everett?"
Dorothy could only shake her head in amusement.
Even expecting her second child, she still had the energy of a youngster.
"By the way, bring your daughter along too!"
"That means I'll have to look after her."
"No worries, let Abigail and Langston take care of her. It'll be good practice for them, getting a feel of being older siblings."
Karen actually liked the idea.
"Especially Langston, it'll be good for my daughter to bond with him. Who knows, they might end up more than just friends in the future!"
She had high hopes for Langston as a potential son-in-law.
"You're thinking way ahead, they're not even ten years old combined."
"For a smart and outstanding son-in-law like Langston, I need to reserve him early!"
