Facing this for the first time, even Everett was at a loss.
Watching Dorothy in such discomfort, hugging the toilet and throwing up endlessly, all he could do was pass her lukewarm water.
Now, Everett could finally understand how Jeffrey felt. It was...
Wishing he could carry the child himself.
"Should I call a doctor?" Everett gently patted her back, then moved to grab his phone.
Dorothy quickly grabbed his hand, her face pale from vomiting but still managing a weak smile, shaking her head, "What time is it now? The doctor's asleep! And even if he came, it wouldn't help. Morning sickness is totally normal."
"But you can't just keep throwing up like this! How far along are you?"
If this keeps up until birth, wouldn’t it be the end of her?
"It'll get better after a while." Dorothy, not wanting him to worry too much, added, "I heard from Karen that Jeffrey made her some kind of pickle juice remedy that helped with the morning sickness. I'll ask her about it tomorrow! Let's just get through tonight."
After saying this, she started vomiting again.
Having eaten so little, now it was almost dry heaving!
Everett suggested she rinse her mouth again, then he stood up and left the bathroom.
Dorothy didn't think much of it, still feeling awful.
Finally, when she felt a bit better, she washed her hands and face, and as she walked out of the bathroom, she saw Everett on the phone, not sure with whom.
Seeing Dorothy, he hung up.
"Did you end up calling the doctor after all?"
"No." Everett strode over and wrapped her in his arms, "Feeling any better now?"
"Now you're by my side, and I'm here to protect you, but when you were carrying Abigail and Langston..."
She was all alone!
Not only did she have to endure morning sickness and other pregnancy symptoms, but she also had to work and even gather evidence to clear her mother's name!
Everett sometimes forced himself not to think about those times.
But once touched upon, he couldn't control himself!
That past was even more shadowy and significant for Everett than for Dorothy. It was almost the thing he was most sensitive about.
"Everett, I think you might just be getting older, how come your tear ducts have gotten shallower?" Dorothy tried to speak in a light tone, "It's been so long, why dwell on those things? Let's look to the future!"
"The past, just because it's passed, doesn't mean it didn't happen."

Why didn't Jeffrey call Everett from the office? Lock his door instruct security to not let anyone in and speak to Everett on the phone? Or send him a text giving him a quick summary of what's up and that he's on his way over. That way when he runs into Heather on his way out he informs her Everett already knows....

I don't agree with not letting him in. That just seems cruel and besides wasn't the whole point of getting pregnant again was for him to experience and travel the journey of pregnancy with her?...
