Everett grabbed a pair of cozy slippers for Jeffrey as soon as he stepped in, and with a tone mixed with seriousness and curiosity, he asked, “So, what goes into making that ginger ale remedy? I can send Kevin to pick up whatever we need, and you could teach me.”
It was clear he was here to learn. After all, if it meant he could whip up something to soothe Dorothy’s morning sickness, he was all in.
Jeffrey, moving into the living room with a wave of his hand and a secretive grin, patted the small bag he brought along. “No need for Kevin to run errands; I’ve brought everything with me!”
“Fresh ginger, then? What else?”
Following Jeffrey into the kitchen, Everett was eager to see the ingredients, thinking it wise to stock up on whatever was needed. With no clear end to Dorothy’s morning sickness in sight, if this ginger ale remedy worked, he’d have to make sure they always had some on hand.
But then, Jeffrey, after rummaging through his bag, triumphantly pulled out a small packet!
“Ta-da! Here it is!” he said, flashing a grin at Everett, “Instant ginger ale mix!”
Everett was momentarily speechless, almost feeling the urge to call for help.
Jeffrey went on to explain, “All you need is water. Mix one packet with a liter, shake it well, refrigerate, and it’s ready! And don’t worry about it being cold; I checked with the doctor, and it’s fine for Dorothy to have it occasionally. This stuff really works wonders for morning sickness!”
Everett, frowning deeply, held the packet skeptically.
