"Mm-hmm."
Craig nodded, his eyes softening noticeably when he mentioned Aurora.
"We're so broke, and Aurora hasn't looked down on us. You've got to treat her right."
"I know."
"Mom... there's something I want to discuss with you." Amelie hesitated for a moment, not waiting for him to respond before she continued, "I don't want to be resuscitated anymore! Craig, if there's a next time... just let me go."
Her illness was a burden to her son.
She couldn't help with anything else and didn't want to drag him down anymore!
"No way." Craig frowned, "There's no discussing this."
"I know you're a dutiful son, but these repeated trips to the emergency room, mom's really tired of it."
For a patient with a severe condition, sometimes dying sooner might actually be a mercy!
Craig didn't respond, but their conversation woke Aurora.
She blinked her eyes open, her beautiful eyes still slightly unfocused from sleep.
Seeing that Amelie was awake, Aurora felt a bit embarrassed and quickly sat up straight, "...I'm sorry, I fell asleep..."
"That's nothing to be sorry about. I should be thanking you for making the effort to come here."
"It's no trouble!" Aurora looked up at Craig and then spoke softly, "Amelie, I've got something to tell you."
"Just say it, it's okay," Amelie immediately responded.
She had just been acting all brave, but now her expression turned a bit shy.
"I... I want to marry Craig, and I hope you can agree."
The statement caught both Amelie and Craig off guard.
"You what...?"
"What, you don't want to marry me?" Aurora's expression suddenly turned awkward.
"Aurora, dear, I appreciate your sentiment, but... not everyone wants to keep living."
Years of being bedridden in the hospital, unable to move at all, she really didn't want to continue living like that.
"Mom, you rest up for now. This matter... I'll think it over."
He stood up, naturally took Aurora's bag for her, and said, "Come on, I'll take you home."
"I didn't say I was leaving."
"You didn't sleep well last night. Go back and catch up on some sleep. After I make this delivery run to Zen Ville, we'll talk about the wedding."
He had goods to deliver there, promises he had made. Craig didn't want to cancel last minute and cause problems for his boss.
Over the years, the reason he'd been trusted by these bosses and truck drivers was his reliability.
"Oh... okay then." Aurora knew his character well.
Even if she asked him not to go to Zen Ville, he wouldn't agree.
