Before she even arrived, Dr. Thompson, the herbalist, knew exactly what her mission was.
She was ready to act the part.
"Ms. Sanchez, no rush from my side! Let's have a look at you first," she said with a warm smile.
Felicity was genuinely concerned for Dorothy, her heart racing with worry, silently hoping Ms. Sanchez wasn't facing anything serious.
The thought of anything else never crossed her mind.
"I'll start with this young lady," Dr. Thompson said, moving towards the couch with her diagnostic tools in hand. "Please, have a seat."
Felicity hesitated for a moment before Miles nudged her forward.
"My mom wants you to go first, so let's do this," he said in a soothing tone.
"Alright then," Felicity agreed reluctantly.
After examining Felicity, Dr. Thompson maintained a professional demeanor, not letting on much.
But to keep up the act, she also gave Dorothy a thorough check.
"You're not facing anything serious. I'll prescribe some supplements for you. Just make sure to take them regularly," Dr. Thompson said with a reassuring smile, then turning to the man by Dorothy's side, Everett, she inquired, "And you, sir, are her husband?"
Dorothy nodded, "Yes, he is."
"I would advise you both, especially considering your age, to perhaps moderate your intimate activities. It's for the best of your health."
Everett was taken aback by her bold suggestion. This was a hard-earned privilege he wasn't willing to compromise on.
"If you can't say anything helpful, then maybe say less," he retorted sharply.
Dr. Thompson, taken aback by his assertiveness, quickly stood up, "I'll be on my way then, won't take more of your time!"
Dorothy frowned at Everett, "Sorry about that. I'll see you out."
"No need, no need," Dr. Thompson insisted, turning to Miles, "You can show me out, just lead the way."
Infertility.
The reality of the situation - both expected and yet somehow surprising.
Miles was at a loss for words.
Every piece of Felicity's unusual behavior now made sense, replaying in his mind.
So this was the "incompatibility" Felicity spoke of...
Miles didn't even bother to ask Dr. Thompson if Felicity's condition was treatable.
To him, having children wasn't the priority.
A child would be a blessing, to be cherished and loved.
But without one, as long as they were together, happy and in love, that was more than enough.

Why didn't Jeffrey call Everett from the office? Lock his door instruct security to not let anyone in and speak to Everett on the phone?
