"Think about it from a different angle, how should I have brought it up? If you were the one dealing with infertility, would you tell me?”
“I—I…”
Felicity raised an eyebrow. “What about you?”
“I…” Miles frowned, pondering for a moment, “I would choose to tell you, too.”
“Oh?”
“Probably at first, I’d feel the same way you do, not wanting to drag you down. But when I see you in so much pain, I couldn’t bear it.”
Just after they broke up, what had Miles turned himself into?
When he looked at himself in the mirror while showering, he felt that the person staring back wasn’t Miles anymore; he looked more like a homeless man!
Before Felicity returned from her trip to Anglonia, he never imagined that love could drive him to such a state.
“Felicity, I’ve made up my mind about you a long time ago, and I know you’ve done the same about me. No one can replace us. So, let’s not waste any more time! What matters most is being together.”
Felicity lowered her head, silent.
He reached over the center console and pulled her into his embrace.
“And besides, who says the Lopez family won’t have an heir? Isn’t your cousin Abigail’s baby almost due? That child will also carry the Lopez bloodline.”
If it weren’t for comforting Felicity, Miles would have admitted he couldn’t care less about the Lopez family fortune.
To him, having someone to share life with was what truly mattered.
“You really...don’t regret it?”
“I am very, absolutely, seriously telling you, I have no regrets whatsoever.”
He had to stress it again.
Just so she wouldn’t keep asking.
Felicity remained silent, her eyes downcast.
He didn’t rush her, simply waiting for her to think.
After what seemed like an eternity, Felicity finally spoke, “When is Abigail’s due date?”
“Soon, I don’t know the exact date.”
“Then… let’s go back home.”
“Hmm?”
Aurora thought, when she had gone to pick up Craig, it should have been clear to her father and Craig that she wasn’t keen on them being in touch.
“I don’t know.” He hadn’t answered the call, so how could he know what Walter wanted.
“Then answer it.”
“If I do, you’ll be upset.”
Craig, though bemused, was aware of this much.
“But if you don’t, you’ll label me as overly controlling, meddling too much in your affairs, right?”
He frowned, “I didn’t say that.”
“You didn’t have to.”
“…”
Craig felt somewhat helpless, “Aurora, what can I do to not upset you? Just tell me straight.”
He had already chosen not to answer the call!
In that conversation, Craig thought he hadn’t… said anything wrong, had he?
