A sharp pang coursed through Aurelia’s heart. There’s no way she could have contracted the superbug from the Amazon rainforest without reason, so there was only one possible explanation; someone had poisoned her, aimed to assassinate her. 

The first person that came to her mind was Megan. No one else would be so desperate to see her dead. 

First, Megan poisoned her. Then, during the period of her illness, she seized the opportunity to snatch her husband away. 

Megan probably assumed Aurelia would perish, never expecting a research institute to develop an antibiotic that would save her life. 

A flame of hatred blazed in Aurelia’s heart. She was certain Megan would strike again, this time targeting her boy Kane. She had to expose Megan’s true face to Leopold before Megan could act, so he could see the true nature of the vicious woman he’d married. 

After leaving the hospital, she called Arnold and invited him to her apartment for dinner.

Arnold was shocked. “Someone is trying to harm you?” 

Aurelia spoke solemnly, “I think it was Megan. She was the only one who profited from my illness.” 

This thought aligned with Arnold’s suspicions, a chilling murderous intent crossing his gaze. “I never thought she could be so vicious!” 

Aurelia waved her glass of juice slightly, “Megan never mentioned where she disappeared to or what happened during those six missing years. Don’t you find that strange?” 

Arnold also pondered, “She must have secrets she can’t reveal. Considering her capability, she couldn’t have obtained a biological weapon like a superbug. There must be someone else behind her.” 

Aurelia knew Megan didn’t just want to become Leopold’s wife. She also aimed for the matriarch position of the Stirling family and wanted her own child to be the heir. 

The game has just started, and Megan will step by step achieve her ambition. 

“My biggest concern now is Kane. If I had known earlier that Megan was behind my illness, I would never have divorced and allowed her scheme to succeed.” 

Arnold held her hand, “I will often visit the Stirling Mansion to check on Kane. As for Megan, I will have people investigate her in secret and expose all her secrets.”
