"I think Brandon quite likes the idea," Peter said calmly.
"You..." Tania was at a loss for words.
At that moment, Noelle knocked on the door, interrupting them. "Peter, could you come with me for a moment?"
Peter's expression softened when he saw Noelle. He nodded. "Charles just called me."
"Yeah, sorry to trouble you. Charlie's worried about me going alone. Mr. Smith is busy at work, so you're my only option."
Peter nodded and handed Brandon back to Tania. "Let's go."
Tania almost could not reach out to Brandon in time, and almost immediately, Brandon began to cry.
"Mr. Lennon doesn't want to take me out. Mr. Lennon is a bad person!"
Peter was already at the door when he heard Brandon's cries. He stopped, glancing back at Tania.
Tania bit her lip. She had not expected Brandon to get so attached to Peter. Seeing Peter leave, Brandon wriggled out of her arms, his little legs quickly carrying him over to Peter.
He grabbed Peter's leg with both arms, looking up with tear-filled eyes. "Mr. Lennon, please take me with you!" Brandon's small, tear-streaked face tugged at Peter's heart.
Peter knelt down, gently stroking Brandon's head. "Brandon, be good and stay with your mom. I need to go out with Aunt Noelle."
"Why are you going with Aunt Noelle and not taking me and Mommy with you?" Brandon's voice, innocent yet direct, pierced through the tension in the ward.
Peter cast a sideways glance at Tania, noticing the conflicted expression on her face. He furrowed his brows. "He's just a child. Can't you indulge him a little?"
"I—" Tania started, but Brandon's pleading voice interrupted her.
"Mommy, I want to play with Mr. Lennon!" Brandon cried out, his voice full of longing.
