The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 161

"Haven't you mentioned me to your cousin?" Ronan leaned against the headboard, asking Cordelia.

"We're bound to part ways, not much to talk about," Cordelia said with her eyes closed.

She decided to retract all her feelings for him and keep her distance until their agreement ended.

"So, you're a bit smug because she mistook Jamie for your husband?"

Cordelia didn't respond. She got up, dressed, and went to prepare breakfast.

Ronan noticed a hickey on her neck, which she covered up with a turtleneck sweater. He also got dressed and got ready for breakfast.

The breakfast at Cordelia's house wasn't as rich as at Ronan's. Judy bought a breakfast of cornbread, pasta, and eggs.

When Ronan was around, Judy would cautiously say, "Mr. Evans, hope you don't mind."

"No worries," Ronan responded.

Cordelia didn't eat any eggs that morning. Because if she did, he would eat the yolk for her, which would make her develop new feelings for him. So, she'd rather not eat it.

"Della, aren't you eating the egg? I know you don't eat the yolk. Give it to me." Shelley peeled an egg for Cordelia. "Give me the yolk later."

"Sure." Cordelia felt warm inside. She used to throw away the yolk, but now her mother would eat it.

Just as Cordelia was about to give the yolk to her mother, Ronan snatched it away. He didn't say a word and just quietly ate it.

At moments like these, Cordelia found it hard not to be moved. She wanted to control her emotions, but he was fanning the flames.

Shelley chuckled, "You marry Ronan, and I can rest easy."

Cordelia didn't respond. She rode with Ronan to the company. She wanted to say something, but in the end, she didn't.

"Got something on your mind?" Ronan noticed her hesitations and asked her.

"Nothing." Cordelia turned her head away.

When she got in the car, she noticed a bite mark on his mouth. She had bitten his lip the previous day, and now she worried that others in the office would gossip about them.

"Brooklyn said, you love sleeping." Ronan suddenly laughed.

Cordelia was taken aback, Brooklyn? So he chatted with her mother last night and knew about Halloween? No wonder he was so nice today! Last night he nearly scared Cordelia to death.

"Does he give you money?" Samantha asked again.

"Yeah. Otherwise why would I let him keep me? I value his money, and he values my body." Cordelia crossed her arms, thinking about how Samantha embarrassed her yesterday and made her furious.

"How much?"

"He said it's half a million dollars. He also gives me some pocket money from time to time." Cordelia said.

On second thought, her relationship with Ronan was pretty much like sugaring, just with an extra marriage license. This certificate was useless. It was only for Barney to see, and they would still divorce when the time came.

"That much?" Samantha was dumbfounded. It seemed that not only was Cordelia's job better than hers, but she was also richer.

After returning to the office, Samantha asked her colleague, "Did you know Mr. Evans is keeping Cordelia?"

People in the office loved drama. They all knew about the embarrassing incident yesterday, and they were waiting for a bigger one to happen.

They naturally wouldn't tell Samantha the truth. Someone like Samantha deserved a good lesson.

After careful consideration, Samantha decided to talk to Ronan herself. As a low-level salesperson, she had never been to Ronan's office and needed a lot of mental preparation.
