At night, Ronan was on top of Cordelia , teasing her.
"You've got a cold." Cordelia instinctively pushed him away.
He didn't have any serious symptoms, just a raspy voice.
"I'm worried you'll wear yourself out." Cordelia said.
"I don't feel that tired, actually."
They were talking when suddenly a man's noise came from downstairs. Ronan stopped in his tracks, frowned, and said, "I'll go check it out." With that, he went downstairs.
Cordelia finally let out a sigh of relief, crawled into bed, and tried to fall asleep before Ronan came back. Not long after, the reprimanding sound from downstairs made Cordelia's body shiver. It seemed like it was Ronan scolding his father.
Cordelia had never seen such a father-son relationship, the father being scolded by the son but not saying a word.
"You just left like that back then, now who are you trying to scare by coming back?"
"I don't want to hear your voice again!"
Even Barney heard. Ronan had a few words with his grandfather downstairs.
……
Cordelia got scared straight. By the time Ronan came back, he was leaning against the headboard, irritably lighting a cigarette.
Cordelia cautiously pulled at him.
"Honey, you should sleep first." He stroked Cordelia's head.
"Your dad……what's wrong with him?" Cordelia asked Ronan with wide eyes.
"He has a serious mental illness, triggered by seeing people from the past." Ronan took a deep puff of his cigarette, "Today, he saw the father and son from the Colby family ."
"So has he been abroad getting treatment?" Cordelia asked again.
"Yes, he's pretty much recovered. On normal days, he's just like anybody else. He's been teaching abroad."
As soon as Cordelia finished speaking, Shelley called Cordelia.
"Mom." Cordelia walked out of the kitchen and into the living room, asking, "What's up?"
"Della, is it a good time to call you right now?" Shelley asked with a hint of awkwardness.
"Sure, what's on your mind?"
"If you're free tonight, could you come home? I need to talk to you about something."
Cordelia replied, "Sure, I'm usually free after work."
After hanging up the phone, Cordelia returned to the kitchen. "I just touched his forehead, it's a bit hot." Cordelia told Amanda.
"It's okay, I've added some fever reducer. He caught a cold last night, and with this chilly weather, he even went downstairs." Amanda said this with a hint of pity in her voice, "The spring weather is still quite cold."
When Amanda said this, her voice was choked up, which almost made Cordelia cry as well. "Alright, I'll take it to him." With that, Cordelia carried a bowl of steaming soup upstairs.
